Dear
Julie,
Thanks, we loved it. Franca and Valerio were wonderful. It was better than we ever imagined. We would definitely stay there again. The food was wonderful. We just can't say enough how great it was. The only negative if you will was no laundry. It would have been nice to have that available. We'll definitely use In Italy again!
Regards,
Lisa P.
Hi Jessica,
Thanks for your email, we had a great time in Italy, what a fantastic country!!!
Unfortunately the weather was not so great in Tuscany and we found Cassetta
di Cortona to be extremely cold ...in fact so cold it was uncomfortable to
spend the evening there most nights and we had to sleep in jumpers with 3 blankets.
When we turned on the heaters a smell of rotting vegetables emerged from the
one in the bedroom that didn't leave the for the rest of the week after we
turned them off. Franca explained that there was a technical fault and that
we were not supposed to use the heaters, although it seemed we were also not
supposed to use the fireplace either although we did ask. I think the language
barrier didn't help our negotiations. Consequently Nick and I both arrived
home with a bad case of flu.
That aside the family in Cortona were very welcoming and we had a lovely dinner with them one night, which was a wonderful experience of the Italian lifestyle, a treat we would not have had staying elsewhere! Cortona was a great place to be and the walking distance of Cassetta was perfect. The garden also had wonderful views of the sunsets. The information in your hand outs of places to go and visit was also very useful and we enjoyed a few games of golf at the Lambogini golf club. The restaurant recommendations were also good.
Although we really enjoyed our time in Cortona I don't think we would go back to Cassetta di Cortona as we would prefer somewhere with a little more privacy. We felt obliged /almost pressured to buy some dinners from Franca, which meant if we wanted to try out a few restaurants we had no evenings left to cook. We also felt we would have preferred not to literally to be staying in their garden. However, I must stress that everyone was always very friendly whenever we crossed paths, perhaps it was just the temperature and the onset of flu that tainted our stay.
In any case, thank you for your help in the organisation of our holiday it really was the trip of a lifetime and one that we had been wanting to do for several years.
Thanks again,
Sarah H.
