Location: About 6km from the center of Assisi and just over 2km from Santa Maria degli Angeli church, in the valley with unobstructed views of St. Francis' basilica and the old town. The location is also great to use as a base for seeing all the sites of Umbria. The many delightful hilltowns (which are generally more pristine and less crowded than their Tuscan counterparts) are all within 30-50 minutes drive. Or you can spend a wonderful day on Italy's largest non-alpine lake, Trasimeno. Take the boat out to the island and relax over a yummy lunch of fresh lake fish, followed by an easy hike to the ruined medieval castle. Travel east for a fascinating day in The Marches, whose gorgeous hills and mountains offer endless unforgettable vistas; stop along the way in Gubbio, which we consider Italy's most dramatic medieval hilltown. However you spend the day, save time to loll by the pool at sunset or warm up next to the fireplace with a pre-dinner cocktail. Then enjoy a delicious Umbrian feast at the restaurant, take a quick stroll under the impossibly starry sky, and tuck yourself in for some true sogni d'oro (golden dreams).

Rooms: 37 rooms in the modern hotel, 5 rooms in a stone farmhouse, and several apartments in other farmhouses, all on the same part of the property. The rooms sleep up to three people and each has its own private bathroom. Classic Rooms are all in the hotel, with modern furnishings. Superior Rooms are larger and furnished with antiques; they all have views of the estate and Assisi. Most Deluxe Rooms are in the farmhouse; all have great views of Assisi through their picture windows. Non-smoking rooms are available. 20 apartments, each for two people in one bedroom or three people in two bedrooms. Sunflower House has two apartments for three people on one floor. Wheat House has two apartments for three people, one on each floor. Haystack House has four apartments for three people, two on each floor. Grape House has six apartments for two people all on one floor. Olive House has six apartments for two people all on one floor. Each of these apartments has a living room with kitchenette, bedroom(s) and bathroom with shower.         Features: All rooms and apartments have air conditioning/heating, double-glazed windows, color satellite TV, direct-dial telephone, wireless Internet access, mini-bar, and safe. Bathrooms have showers, heated mirrors and hair dryers. Deluxe room bathrooms also have a separate bathtub.         Facilities: Elevator in the hotel; swimming pool; restaurant (closed on Mondays); coffee bar; 24-hour room service; rental bikes; free outdoor parking.
