Hotel Ateneo's Guestbook

Back to Hotel Ateneo

Dear In Italy,

We had a great time on our trip. And thanks to Initaly.com we stayed at a wonderful hotel in Venice. Hotel Ateneo was great - centrally located, nice room and helpful staff. I will definitely use your web site again when we go back.

Regards,
Liz H.

InItaly:

I really have to say that everything went so smooth and was just as I expected from reading your site and other travelers comments. Buying the maps in advance was a great help as was printing the info sheets available for each hotel and booking the train, and museum tickets online. AND most importantly packing lightly, most places have no elevator and there is A LOT of walking involved especially in Venice (to get to the hotel). Here's a breakdown of my visit to each city:

Venice: EXPENSIVE but unforgettable. We stayed at Hotel Ateneo (short walk to many sites). To live truly european and to make the most of our time and money, my boyfriend and I did the following:

We revolved our day around FOOD

Pick where you want to eat your meal that day and then plan museum outings and sightseeing accordingly.

The restaurants right on the big canal are very tourist oriented and don’t give you a good taste of Venetian cuisine.

The carpaccio at the restaurant on your info sheet was a BIG hit.

EVERYTHING closes the latest 10pm in Venice

Phone cards are sold at the Tabac stores (look for big T's)

Hope this helps and sorry for the delay in my response!

Dear In Italy,

Our stay at Ateneo was very nice - but not until we upgraded rooms. The double rooms are the tiniest rooms I had ever seen. We did not have enough room for even our suitcases. The bathroom also was incredibly small. For the price I had expected a larger room. We upgraded to a triple room - which was beautiful, large, wonderful views.
