Dear Kristin,
Hi, we had a fabulous time, loved every minute of our trip. Everything went smoothly with all the hotels and car rentals. We really enjoyed Paradiso nel Chianti and would go back there in a heartbeat! Sandro at the front desk there was especially helpful and directed us to some great restaurants and villages: San Gusme was a quaint charming small gem of a medieval town, close by and worth a visit. We had a lovely and romantic dinner there at La Porta Del Chianti, and enjoyed the very special ambiance of the town.
We loved the pizza and chicken at the Drunken Rooster in Gaiole, can't remember the name in Italian. I'll try to find the card. The prices were great, food excellent, owner kind and charming! He did recommend that Da Antonio in Castelnuovo Berardenga get removed from your list. He felt it was no good now, and instead recommended Osteria Bengodi in that town. He said the best pizza for miles around was found at Pomodoro in Ponticino, but we never made it there.
Our favorite restaurant in Venice was A Beccafico near the Accademia bridge. No coperta and excellant food plus they give you their house dessert wine at the end of the meal for free.
Hotel delle Nazioni was great, perfect locatation, very comfortable and cool rooms, it was hot in Rome! We enjoyed really good homemade food at La Taverna dei Fori Imperiali near the Forum, great value and friendly service. The only bad thing that happened was I had a jacket and a pair of pants stolen out of my suitcase either on the Easy Jet flight from Paris to Venice or at the Hotel Beacci Tornabuoni, I am hoping it was on the plane. They were all very nice at the hotel Beacci.
I have referred one of my clients to you for his Italy trip and you may be hearing form him! Thanks again for everything and I will look forward to another trip hopefully soon to Italy!

Hi,
I stayed at the hotel cosmopolita, the reason was the closeness to the ghetto area. the actual walk was about 20 to 25 minutes, with shortcuts 15 minutes. The hotel while charming has rooms that can only be described as tiny. i was able to walk around the bed if i put one foot directly in front of the other. the closet was ok for the few hanging items but totally lacked shelf space. the desk area could not be deeper than 12 inches. when i arrived i asked for a converter for my lap top. the one they gave me blew out the battery and rendered my computer a piece of useless metal. when i told them the answer was "you should have gone and bought a converter". why then did the desk clerk give me one? in terms of walking places it was fine. they had a bus to the airport for 12 euro which was a bargain and convenient.
PS i would use your agency again, since my primary requirement was met. that being the distance to the ghetto, which tells me you do know the city.
Jessica,
We expected Hotel Cosmopolita to be a decent hotel, but were especially impressed with the room size, the tasteful decorations, and the courteous and helpful attitude of the personnel. Having stayed in a number of places in Europe in years past, we were pleasantly surprised. We also were impressed at how quiet it was - great location off of the busy streets. It was a very nice experience. We asked one of the front desk clerks about a restaurant recommendation near the hotel, and it turned out to be a great experience (Mario's). Only a local would have known it was there. We definitely would stay there again.
Thanks,
James C.
Hi Jessica,
Thanks for your follow up message regarding our recent visit to Rome. Both my husband and I were delighted with the excellent location of the Hotel Cosmopolita and the majority of the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was not quite up to the typical Italian standard -- hot dogs and raw bacon were the "hot meats" and only American-looking ham with sliced white cheese were the cold selections (in addition, of course, to dry cereals, rolls/breads/cake and sliced/whole fruits. Certainly plenty by most people's standards, but having been to Italy several times in the past, we always look forward to the selection of Italian cold cuts and cheeses such as ricotta and the many delectable varieties we can't find in the U.S. in addition to the regional dolci selections.
Our "triple" room was adequate but would have never worked with a third person in the room -- only one armoire with 3 tiny drawers and limited hanging space, not to mention the pint-sized bathroom. Had hoped for something with a larger bathroom, but I guess we were lucky to have a tub with a shower. The king-sized bed, however, was very comfortable and the linens/towels were always plentiful and changed daily.
All in all, we were fortunate to have several sunny, spring-like days and even when it was raining (which it was about 1/2 the time), the temperatures were much warmer than expected as we never had to wear our winter coats/gloves that we had been wearing for weeks already in Chicago.
One MAJOR find was a restaurant we had heard about from friends -- Antico Arco -- at Piazzale Aurelio 7 in Trastevere. Both the service and food were outstanding and among the finest we've had in Italy, certainly in Rome. Reservations are a must (it took us two days to get in and this was during November!), but it was definitely worth the wait. Nothing our hotel suggested was even close to Antico Arco in quality and I had left your recommended dining list on the airplane, so we were at a bit of a disadvantage with regard to restaurants. That being said, we certainly did not go hungry and were just happy to be able to eat outside on several occasions!
We are already planning our next visit and will be certain to call on "In Italy" when our plans are more firm.
Please extend my thanks for Kristen for her assistance and to the balance of your staff who do such great work on our behalf. We are very appreciative.
Regards,
Catherine B.
Dear Kristin,
The location of the hotel was great. It was within walking distance to a lot of stuff. We had a very, very difficult time finding the hotel by car, which directions you didn't provide. It took us 2 hours, with a key map in hand and everything! So many forced turns and one-way streets.
The staff at the hotel were very nice. But we felt that the rooms weren't as nice as pictured. We were expecting something grand, and it wasn't. It was okay furnishings wise, but worth 200 Euro a night? I'm not sure. We felt like we should have gotten a lot more for so much money.
The shuttle to the airport was deceiving. It only runs 4 times a day or so, with a 4-hour break during the middle of the day. So most people can't use their shuttle to the airport [we heard other people in our situation trying to figure out how to get to the airport].
The room was quiet, even in downtown Rome. The breakfast was good and appealed to our American appetites. And again, we were glad about the location.

Hi Jessica!
The hotel in Rome was wonderful. The room was smaller than expected but it was
so clean and comfortable and we really didn't spend much time in our room so
that was ok with us! We loved having cocktails on the rooftop and met some nice
travelers. Also, the breakfast buffet was delicious, we didn't expect so much
food. All the help were so kind and friendly and the hotel was so convenient
and in walking distance to all the historic areas. We loved Italy!!
Thank you!
