Not very long ago, a trio of charming young ladies stumbled upon a modern villa nestled in a tropical oasis on a residential street only yards from one of Sicily's most renowned beaches. Apart from the lush garden, the property didn't look like much - but now it is an elegant seaside home for sophisticated travelers who like their lodgings small, friendly, efficient and stylish. Whether you are planning to do a cultural blitz on the nearby treasure troves of Siracusa, Noto and Ragusa, or just yearn to swim, snorkle and soak up the sun for a few days, this brand-new boutique retreat is bound to exceed your expectations.

Location: In Fontane Bianche, 18 km from Siracusa, 10 km from Noto and an easy 50 km from Catania Airport. A sandy beach is 50 yards away and there are several superb snorkeling coves in the vicinity. Click here to see a map. Rooms: Only 16, 12 in the hotel and 4 in the guesthouse next door. Each is completely unique, with marble floors, pretty fabrics and designer touches, giving them the feel of home more than of a hotel. All the double rooms have queen beds (no single beds). The single room has a French bed (larger than a single) and a private balcony. Superior rooms are for up to four people and have a double bed, two single daybeds and a table and chairs. All rooms have balconies and private bathrooms with stall showers. Although the lush vegetation cuts off any sea views, we prefer rooms on the seaside because they are quieter. Features: Air conditioning, mini-bar, color satellite TV, direct-dial telephone, safe, marble bathrooms with hair dryer. Facilities: No elevator (20 steps up to the first-floor rooms); swimming pool; restaurant; tented outdoor bar as well as many seating areas in the garden; work-out room; special passes for a nearby equipped beach; discounts at local discotheques and beauty centers; free parking.
