Dear Travelers,
We had a great trip to Italy. In the area of planning, now that the trip is over, I can say that In Italy does a great job of pre-selecting places to stay and taking the busy work out of planning the trip. All the hotels we stayed at, as picked from your recommended lists, were great. My biggest regret was not finding In Italy sooner as I think I spent about 20 hours searching for hotels and ideas prior to finding the site, and only about 5 hours planing the WHOLE trip, including confirmations and research of things to do, once In Italy was in front of me.
Our favorite was Castello Apartments in Venice for two reasons... one was the people there as Nicola and the rest of the staff were great to talk to. The second bonus was the ability to cook in a kitchen after picking up groceries in a small shop around the corner. We travelled with our two seven year olds and being able to have breakfast and dinner back at our room not only made the day the perfect length, but gave us some of our best time together.
In Rome we stayed at Hotel Ponte Sisto which had a great central location. We were in Rome during some scorchers so it was nice to be relatively close to everything where we could walk. We strategically used taxi's here to avoid the heat and get us of our feet so we could cover more ground during the day with our seven year olds. The surprise was they were actually not that expensive and well worth it. Great breakfast spread here, and the courtyard made it even better.
In Italy does a good of documenting the pre-trip info you'll want to take with you about getting around, how to get between places, and small tips for various locations, I only wish I had printed more of it for easy reference while we were en route or changing cities.
All in all it was the best family trip we have taken. I know we will go back to Italy, exactly where I am not quite sure where, but I do know that In Italy is firmly in my favorites folder and only a click away next time we start planning.
Thanks again and all the best,
Drew K.
Hello InItaly,
Thanks once again! As usual, everything we booked through InItaly, including 2 hotels and the airport
shuttle, as well as the rental car from AutoEurope, went
very smoothly.
In Sicily, the people at Taormina
Villa Hotel were extraordinarily hospitable, and the breakfast was
delicious. I would advise guests to consider alternatives to driving directly to the hotel, as our
rental car just barely fit through the narrow street, and there is no place to stop to unload luggage without
holding up traffic. It is more convenient to park at the Porta Catania garage, take the elevator up to the
7th floor exit, and then take a taxi; the taxi stand is very close to the garage exit.
Although uphill, it is not a far walk from the Porta Catania main square and could be managed with minimal
luggage. If arriving by bus, there is another taxi stand at the bus station, and it cost us only 10 euro
from the hotel. Driving in Taormina is about as bad as it gets, even in Italy, but the main
streets are easily walkable.
In Rome, Hotel Ponte Sisto continues to be one of my favorite spots, mainly because
of the excellent location within walking distance of major sites, and the proximity to several great little
restaurants in Trastevere. The airport shuttle was on time and convenient. The shuttle bus doesn't fit
on the Hotel Ponte Sisto's narrow street, but it's a short walk to the corner. Again, wonderful breakfast.
We also enjoyed our stay off the beaten path, at a small hotel called Le Chiavi di
San Francesco, in Trapani, on the west coast of Italy. Trapani is a small city, convenient to the saltpans
as well as to Erice. It is a short drive to Marsala or Segesta. I would highly recommend including Trapani
on a visit to Sicily.

Hello,
Our trip to Italy was fantastic! Our rooms at the Hotel Ponte Sisto in Rome could not have been any better.
They were extremely nice and very reasonably priced. I would recommend your service to anyone! I wish I had
asked you for a reference for a tour guide - the one we booked on line - that was paid for ahead of time -
stood us up.
Sincerely,
Lori W.
Hello,
We stayed at this hotel for 5 days in mid-July 2007, a party of 8 in 4 rooms. The room itself was a good size for European hotels, with a separate sitting area and lovely green marble bathroom. One thing to note...there is a handheld shower in the bathtub and no shower curtain so you have to kneel in the bathbub to take a shower to minimize the water spraying everwhere. A minor inconvenience all things considered, and since the bathroom is entirely marble, there's no issue with water getting on paintwork or wallpaper. We arrived in our room to a complimentary bottle of wine and fruit basket. Nice touch. The airconditioning was very effective...no problems at all. We found the front desk staff to be very helpful and friendly. They gave us good maps and directions to places of interest. The interior courtyard where buffet breakfast is served is worth staying at the hotel just for that. It is lovely....separated from the hustle and bustle of Rome, and cooled by strategically placed palm trees. The breakfasts were highly varied and filling (cold cereals, juices, coffee/cappucino, tea, pastries, yogurts, bread for toast, meats, cheeses, fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages). We found the hotel to be exceptional for value, and the location can't be beat. A stone's throw from Trastevere, and a 5-10 minute walk to Campo De Fiori and the Pantheon. It's a 20 min walk to the Pantheon. Leisurely 45 min to Spanish Steps/Trevi fountain.
We booked the airport shuttle, and it worked out very well for us. Our flight was an hour late arriving into Rome, and British Airways lost our luggage. Not only was the shuttle representative still waiting for us, she helped us through the luggage claim process and assured us that the shuttle would get us to our Rome hotel. After a long flight from Canada and the stress of losing our luggage, we were very grateful at this excellent service. I highly recommend it!
With regards to reviews of Fabrizio's restaurants elsewhere on this site, the restaurant no longer exists. However, I can state that its replacement is just as good! Its replacement is called Ristorante Il Trono dei Re, and it's located in Piazza San Giovanni della Malva in Trastevere. The restaurant still specializes in seafood, like its predecessor Fabrizio's. It is run by a father and son team, Simone and Frederico. The son, Frederico, was our server. We were having trouble deciding what to have, and he suggested a menu for us. It was delicious, lot of great antipasto and seafood, finished with a drinkable lemon sorbet served in a champagne glass. Tremendously gracious service. The only downside is that if you sit at an outside table, you have to put up with the occasional street vendor hawking their wares. This seems to be a common theme throughout Rome when dining Al Fresco, so don't let it put you off. A simple, No Grazie, will usually send them on their way. The street musicians usually expect a couple of Euro for entertaining you.
Another great restaurant also in Trastevere, and very close to Il Trono dei Re, is Hostaria Ponte Sisto. The gnocchi, spaghetti carbonara, tiramusu and tartufo are all excellent. We dined Al Fresco here as well. Its address is Via di Ponte Sisto, 80.
That's Amore, a restaurant a few blocks east of Trevi fountain, was recommended to us by our tour guide. She goes there every time she is in Rome. Our group of 6 had excellent pasta and pizza there. Very traditional Italian, checkered tablecloths and candles. Lots of locals each there.
Ian and Terry Lyn F.
Dear "In Italy",
We were very impressed that the hotel you recommended and it was exactly like we expected!
It was lovely. We were most thankful for your service and if we ever get back to Italy we will check with
you again. Already we have mentioned your service to many others. The only downside was how expensive things were there....the
exchange rate is not in our favor, plus we understand that hotel (and perhaps other things too)
pricing has gone up this year in Rome. ....so it's a "double wammy" for those of us who have to
watch our budgets. We'll still consider returning, though....and we'll check with "in Italy" when
we do....Thanks!!
Sincerely,
Jane & Larry R.
Dear In Italy,
Had 9 fantastic days in Italy. Drove from Tuscay to Rome and survived driving through Rome to drop off auto. Stayed at Hotel Ponte Sisto. Hotel and room were very nice and is within easy walking distance to Campo di Fiori, Piazza Navona, and just across the Ponte Sisto bridge from Trastevere. If in Rome for the first time like us, I highly recommend taking a bus tour. We took the 'open 110'. The 110's route was just a few blocks away from hotel and it visits all the sites. This helps one to understand where everything is in relation to your hotel. The Vatican was packed, as was Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. Highly recommend booking Sistine Chapel tour beforehand. We had planned to do something else that didn't work out but we were able to get a tour. Rome was magical.

Kristin et al,
Thank you so much for helping us enjoy a wonderful Italian adventure. Everything you arranged went quite well and we followed your suggestions most of the time. We were upgraded in Rome at Hotel Ponte Sisto to a junior suite. Quite a bargain and quite a wonderful hotel. The pool in Chiusi was a bonus and we spent one entire day there alone with wine cheese etc. Restaurant advice was heeded and never failed to produce hidden wonders. Airport shuttle was excellent Car rentaland cell phone also wonderful.
Guide in Venice was excellent and went with the flow; ie, conversation as well as direction and highlights.
Also don’t think the maps your recommend are as good as some others locally available and probably not worth the money. Each hotel info sheet gives the basic map of approach to the hotel and probably just a country map plus one of Rome would suffice but no big deal on that score.
One thing for sure, the next trip to Italy will bring us back to you and we will tout your exceptional organization to all we know who might want to travel to Italy in the future.
Thanks to all your crew,
Sid and Deborah G.
Hello,
We're back from Rome and so happy about our experience!! First let me say the Ponte Sisto is in the best location!! We were so close to Trastavere, Ancient Rome, the Vatican, all the piazzas, great restaurants and shopping; not to mention a wonderful little Gelateria right across the street! The rooms were fairly small (the smallest during our entire European trip), but the rooms were nicely appointed, very clean and we even had a little balcony! The only bad thing I have to say is the front desk staff (most of the morning staff and one of the night staff) were rude, irritated by us and not very helpful. But the afternoon and most of the evening staff were quite eager to please. The continental breakfast was sufficient and the bar was nice too. We really enjoyed being near the Campo Di'Fiori. Although there was nothing spectacular about this piazza other than the great morning market, it was a great place to end a long day of walking with a glass of wine, some snacks and people watching! We also ate at Carbonara one evening which was very good!
Two restaurants I would highly recommend and that are very close to the hotel are Checco in Trastavere, one block from the Ponte Sisto (bridge) and a restaurant in the Piazza Farnese one block away from the Campo Di'Fiori (now I can't for the life of me remember the name of the restaurant, but it is in this tiny piazza with a wine bar by the same name next door. It was recommended by one of the staff at the hotel Ponte Sisto.)
Finally, we had a fantastic tour of the Vatican museum and Ancient Rome with Sarah. To be honest, at first we were sceptical, the tour company shuttled us to the Museum line and gave us to one guide, then we were told she was waiting for another group and our guide (Sarah) was trying find us. Just seemed a little chaotic, but everything worked out well. Sarah was very knowledgeable and very engaging. She was young, hip and very independent and our daughter who is 20 and irritated by most people, loved her. The whole day was a major success!
Thank you for your help in making our trip so great. Our only regret is we didn't make it to Florence or Tuscany. When we learned from Sarah that going to Florence wouldn't take long and we could make the trip in one day, we headed for the train the very next morning! The only problem was it was a major holiday, The Day of the Republic (which no tour books talked about), and we couldn't get a bullet train ticket to or from Florence. We were very disappointed, but since we were at the station we bought tickets to Naples and off we went. It wasn't the best decision, but it was an adventure nevertheless. We got buckets full of rain in Naples and a slow train on the return that took 3 1/2 hours with standing room only, but like I said, it was an adventure.
We'll be in touch when we are ready for our next trip!!
Toodles!
Alexis
Dear In Italy,
Thanks so much for all of your help with our trip. We would never have planned such an exciting time on our own.
The Hotel Ponte Sisto in Rome was very nice, except for the crying baby in the room next door. It's on a nondescript street, and just across the Ponte Sisto (hence the name) from Trastevere, where we found some lovely restaurants.
The highlight of our trip was the private tour of the Vatican that you arranged for us. Our guide, Sarah, was an art history student and very knowledgeable - we could not have effectively navigated the museum without her.
All in all, our trip was a great pleasure. We hope to return next year, and you can be sure we'll be back in touch.
Regards,
Joe and Terry-Ann G.
Dear Jessica,
Italy was fantastic - we are well and truly hooked and can't wait to go back. I've told everyone about your website and how helpful you were.
We arranged for the airport shuttle to pick us up when we arrived at midnight and he was there waiting with a big clear sign with my name on.
Hotel Ponte Sisto is a lovely hotel and having breakfast in the gorgeous courtyard was the perfect start to the day. The staff weren't particularly friendly but I would recommend this hotel to anyone and it was very well situated in the city. We walked everywhere and Trastevere which is just a few 100 yds away across the Ponte Sisto bridge was so full of character in the evenings. There were so many places to eat. We found a little place on the left as you went into Vic. d. Cinque which was very cheap and good food. On another day we had an excellent 4 course lunch at the Taverna della Scala in the Piazza della Scala for 12 euros! The owner was very friendly and helpful.
We will hopefully be using your service again in the not too distant future - thank you again.
Kind regards,
Pam and Alan M.
Dear Jessica
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Ponte Sisto (we also stayed there in 1986) - no complaints.
Thanks for your help.
Sincerely.

Hello Cynthia,
I'm sorry this has taken me so long to write. I've been back from Italy for several months now and would love to share a little about my trip. The two places I booked from In Italy.com were Hotel Ponte Sisto in Rome and Villa dell'Artista in Tuscany. First off the Hotel Ponte Sisto in Rome was wonderful. Location couldn't be better. I loved that it wasn't near the Spanish Steps or other more touristy areas. The first two nights we were in a very small triple since there were three of us. The rooms are clean and service is great. After the second night we became a double since one of my children had to return for a class. That room was great with a wonderful view of the courtyard. If you can try to request one of the rooms with a balcony. I would definitely go back to the Ponte Sisto. It is across the river from one my favorite areas called Trastevere, with charming squares filled with locals. Also very nice breakfast in a beautiful outdoor courtyard.
Thanks again for all your help.
Carla from Northern CaliforniaHi Jessica-
We were very happy with all of the arrangements we made through InItaly.com. Thanks for all of your help.
The airport shuttle worked very well. Someone who spoke English met us as planned. I thought the fee was all-inclusive, so I didn't tip the driver. Same with the tours. The were all very expensive and done by professionals, so a small tip would have been insulting, so I didn't tip, thinking that 500 euros was enough....
Hotel Ponte Sisto was great. Very clean, good air conditioning, comfortable beds, towels, bathrooms. Staff spoke a lot of English and was very helpful. It particularly worked well for my family of 5 because they had a triple connecting to a double - so King bed and pull out single for the kids, two twins that we pushed together for my wife and I, and a full bath in each room - it was great. I suggest a page on your site for traveling with a family of 5. It is challenging to find affordable accommodations. Hotel Ponte Sisto should be on that page-it is a bit steep for some, but why travel all the way to Italy and not have a little privacy with your spouse? Breakfast was great, coffee excellent, well-stocked buffet served in beautiful indoor courtyard. Also could drink wine from bar or get great gelato across the street and sit in courtyard in the evening.
Tours were excellent, expensive, but worth it.
Vatican tour - couldn't have gotten the kids through it without a guide, saved a lot of time waiting in line. Our guide was a Polish professor who was 1/2 Italian and spoke 7 languages. We went fast, but he explained all of the most important things to us. Really helped the kids understand importance of Sistine Chapel, Pieta, School of Athens....
Michael gave us an excellent tour of Rome - hitting some unusual spots that we would never have found on our own. Great for the kids because we would ride, then walk, then ride, then walk... He also is a professor (of medieval history, I think) and explained things very well to us and our children, while our Italian driver kept his eyes on the road - worked great. I have to say I was very disappointed in the Trevi Fountain and Spanish steps which we did on our own - just a bunch of tourists and vendors standing around, packed -- Michael's tour really gave us a sense of what Rome is about.
Bus 51 was not so great - it was a way to get around, but the audio was worthless.
We did Coliseum on our own, fell in there with a tour that saved us wait of an our or so for tickets, and the guide really helped us understand what we were seeing; 90 euro for my family of 5 (included tickets) - guide was italian, so his accent made it hard to follow at times if there was background noise.
We did ancient Rome on our own - it was neat, but I wish I had arranged a walking tour of that area as well.
The best restaurant for the money is Zio Ciro Mangianapoli Via Della Propaganda, 22 Tel: 06-6786093. We really needed our Italian there, but the food was great and the prices very reasonable.
We liked Ristorante S. Eustachio a lot - hard to find the Piazza dei Caprettari, though.
The highlight of the whole trip for me was Sylvia's walking tour of Florence. She has a PhD (or close) in Art History, and really made Florence come alive. I took a course on the Renaissance and Reformation in college, but this is the first time in my life that I finally have understood the transition from the Roman Empire to the dark ages to the Renaissance, and now I want to know even more. What happened it Florence is very fundamental to our modern civilization, so I highly recommend this tour. Thanks Sylvia!
I highly recommend initaly.com for anyone travelling to Italy for the 1st time.

Dear Jessica,
We had a wonderful time in Italy! In fact, we are already looking forward to our next visit!
The best parts:
1. our three private tours -- the Vatican Museum with Luciana, introduction to Florence with Lucia and the tour of the Uffizi with Natalia
2. our stay at the Villa di Piazzano
3. the courtyard at the Hotel Ponte Sisto
I almost didn't book the private tours because they seemed so expensive but, I'm so glad that I did! We really enjoyed meeting these lovely women and sharing in their knowledge. I highly recommend these tours to anyone who wants to get a deeper understanding of the sites. As a former art history major with a husband who is a painter, it was particularly wonderful for us to have someone with whom to discuss the art work more in depth. Even our 14 year old daughter was interested!
We also enjoyed the accommodations at the Hotel Ponte Sisto in Rome. Located on a lovely, winding street, the Hotel offered a great introduction to Rome. Our room had a large, view terrace and a magnificent marble bathroom. The highlight of the hotel has to be the inner courtyard however. It offers a wonder respite from the frenetic pace of Rome and was the perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing before heading out for the evening.
Many thanks for your help in arranging our trip. I have already recommended your site to several friends.
Sincerely,
Margaret B.
Thanks Jessica,
Our trip was fabulous. Hotel Ponte Sisto was everything you said it would be and in a wonderful location. This was my son's (age 23) first trip to Italy and he loved every minute of it- Hotel Ponte Sisto made it so easy to explore and was a wonderful place to "come home to" at night. After spending a few days in Rome, we drove to stay with friends the next week in northwest Tuscany and after putting our son on a plane in Milan to return home the following Saturday, we drove toward the Amalfi coast. We were exhausted before we reached Rome and had planned to stop somewhere along the way anyway, so we decided to check out a city on a hilltop that ended up being a jewel - Orvieto - not many tourists other than Italians. We'll plan to stay there a couple of days on our next trip. We stayed at a hotel just as you get into town, nothing fancy, but very inexpensive, clean, helpful and the bus stopped in front to take you up to the old city if you desired. We drove up to explore during the day, and then drove back down, parked our car and took the bus back up for dinner - very convenient. It just so happened that an Alfa Romeo club was staying at our hotel as well so we had a great morning sitting on the porch, sipping cappuccinos and watching 53 vintage sports cars get organized and take off.
I could go on, but have to get back to the real world!
Thanks for all the help,
Ciao,
Brenda G.
Dear In Italy,
Hotel Ponte Sisto, located a very short walk from Trastevere, is perfect for me, and has modern rooms with attention to detail and great beds for a bad back. This was my second stay, and I will go back. My only complaint is that the breakfast staff is untrained or inattentive, and it's hard to get your morning cappuccino, without which you are not really in Italy!
Donna O.
Dear In Italy,
Hotel Ponte Sisto is a little jewel. After a hectic ride through the streets of Rome, we were delighted to arrive at our destination. The quiet elegance was delightful. Your included breakfast was quite nice. We look forward to returning to this pleasant spot.
Regards,
Roberta B.
Dear In Italy,
I did have a great trip. It was so wonderful. Ponte Sisto was fine. A little small and cramped, but it was to be expected in Rome. We were only there for three days, and then went off to Tuscany. I enjoyed all the small towns – so charming. Lots of great food and wine. I will definitely come back to Initaly.com for my next trip. Thanks again!
Kiuk L.
Hi,
It was a great trip and thanks very much for helping us plan it! We were a little nervous since we'd never relied quite so much on a web service to plan a vacation but everything went incredibly well. I would not hesitate to recommend your services to someone planning a trip to Italy. A few specifics –
Hotel Ponte Sisto - Friendly staff, though perhaps the least personable of the 4 locations. Fantastic location, excellent breakfasts, and suprisingly nice rooms considering the local.
Car rental - Driving was great, glad I went with at least an Alfa Romeo.
Airport shuttle - The only glitch, after we dropped off our car at the airport someone was supposed to meet us @ 5:00 pm. By 5:15 pm I hadn't seen anyone so I started asking around and found we had been sitting directly across from the "Airport Shuttle" desk - I wasn't aware of it because their sign is small and most of the time someone was standing in front of it. They didn't have us on their list of reservations because we didn't have a flight # - when I had corresponded with Fabio Rutili he had said this would not be a problem. We were on our way within 10 minutes so I certainly can't complain about their responsiveness. On the return trip to the airport the shuttle arrived 15 - 20 minutes late - not a big deal except that when you've checked out you don't like to be sitting on the street corner too long with your suitcases - I was on my way back to the hotel to call them when they arrived. The company's staff were very friendly so no complaints there, but perhaps their timeliness/record keeping could be improved.
Highlights -
Cinqueterre - A must see and maybe the best day of our trip.
Artworks - We returned with 5 paintings, several prints, 2 venetian masks, and a few items from the Murano glassworks. I don't know if you mention it anywhere on your website, but Italy is an absolutely fantastic place to get very nice art at reasonable prices.
Thanks again...Ian M.
Dear Jessica-
I really enjoyed my stay in Rome and at the Ponte Sisto. I was in a single room which I must admit was a bit cramped, but the bathroom was large and spacious and the staff are really nice and exceptionally helpful. Breakfast is very nice out in the courtyard. The Italian waiter would bring me cappuccino with a picture of the sun and Sole Mio written in chocolate in the foam. I would like to caution all that calls to mobile phones from the hotel are ridiculously expensive. Food was wonderful everywhere I went. Across the bridge in Trastevere is a great restaurant called Ponte Visto also, but no relation to the hotel. Delicious food and not too expensive. I ate there twice.
Best regards,
David H.
Hi Jessica,
We loved the Ponte Sisto. I'm trying to think of unexpected things – I
guess the best unexpected thing was the view from our window (room 303 & 308).
We had a courtyard room both times and I loved looking out over typical Roman
rooftops. Location perfect but not unexpected, since I knew the vicinity. The
fresh flowers in bar & breakfast room also appreciated, and the professional
and gracious front desk help. As for food, we enjoyed La Pollarola, a small
neighborhood restaurant just on the other (i.e., away from river) side of Campo
de' Fiori, and of course the pizza bianca at Forno Campo de' Fiori.
Thanks for your assistance.
Lindsey C.
Dear Alex,
Where do I begin?!? Our trip was fabulous and the Hotel Ponte Sisto was the perfect hotel for our family. The location is ideal - we were able to walk to all the "sites" - and the staff was attentive and very helpful. We were a little concerned about finding a restaurant open on Christmas Day, so I contacted the hotel prior to our leaving home. They recommended several places and, after I choose a couple of them, made reservations for us both on Christmas and the following day. Both restaurants were favorites of the hotel staff, so you know the food had to be good . .. and it was! Osteria Ponte Sisto (just over the footbridge in Trastevere) is a tiny little place that is always busy and has fabulous food. We ate there a couple of times.
We needed two rooms and were delighted to find our rooms side-by-side with a small hallway connecting them and a large terrace (rooms # 504 & 505). While the rooms were a bit small (my husband likened ours to a small cabin on a cruise ship), the bathrooms were very spacious and modern. The small bar downstairs became a favorite spot for after-dinner drinks and Vincent, the bartender, became a friend. I would highly recommend the Hotel Ponte Sisto to all your clients.
I would also like to let you know about our tours of the Vatican/St. Peter's and Pompeii. It was so nice to be picked up at the hotel and driven right to the entrance of the Vatican Museum. Our guide, Agnes (I think), was a darling lady (originally from Poland) who was very knowledgeable and obviously loved being in the museum herself! I cannot imagine going through the museum and St. Peter's on our own with only a guidebook. We would have missed so much! Even our kids (20, 18, and 15) were amazed at the history and beauty of the place.
We had originally booked the Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius all-day tour, but I received a call from the tour operator the day before saying we would not be able to do the Mt. Vesuvius portion of the tour (bad weather conditions) and that we would go to Naples instead. Pompeii was AMAZING! Again, one of the those places I would highly recommend having a guide. Our guide was Aurelia (I'm sure I'm not spelling it correctly...sorry) and she knew EVERYTHING about this remarkable place. The weather was not the best, but we were able to find an overhang during the hailstorm! While we never had any desire to visit Naples, we are glad we did. Aurelia is a native of Naples and the love of her city really came through in her descriptions of the architecture of the beautiful buildings. We had a lovely lunch at a restaurant on the bay (our son even ate octopus) and then a long drive back to our hotel in Sorrento. I don't know about each of the all-day tours, and maybe ours was unique in that it was changed, but this was a long day. We left the hotel around 8:30 am and did not return until around 6:00 pm. This was also a VERY expensive tour. In hindsight, I wondered why the tour operator did not give us the option of just a half-day Pompeii tour. We even considered asking our guide and driver if we could pass on Naples. However, I am glad we didn't. That may have insulted Aurelia as she is so proud of her city.
All in all, we had a wonderful time and loved Rome and Sorrento. I will recommend your services to everyone and we will be using them again in any future trips to Italy. Thank you for your expertise and guidance.
Ciao! Sue B.
Hi, David:
The Ponte Sisto was lovely and very comfortable, and service was good and very efficient. It was a little hard to find, but given Rome's twisting little streets, it didn't take me too long. I hope to go back again soon - only thing holding me back is the long uncomfortable flight in coach - wish I could afford business class! Thanks for your great service. I wouldn't hesitate to use Initaly again for my next trip.
Regards,
Mary B.
Dear David:
The Ponte Sisto was perfectly located for our short stay in Rome. We did lots of walking, toured the synagogue, Jewish Ghetto, Pantheon, the many piazzas, Spanish Steps etc. The location was great. The hotel itself was fine. I found the decor a bit depressing and the public areas not very aesthetically pleasing. Our room and bathroom was fine, although I wish the pillows had been softer (an issue throughout Italy). Breakfast was good.
The staff was pleasant, helpful and professional and I appreciated that all spoke English well. We loved our final dinner at the suggested Osteria Ponte Sisto.
All in all the stay was pleasant. I just think the hotel could use a bit of a facelift.
Sincerely,
Laura G.
Dear In Italy,
Thank you for your assistance, all went well! The Hotel Ponte Sisto was wonderful. Great location. We were able to walk most places, it was clean and the recent renovation was well done. The room was small but comfortable! We would stay again on another visit. The front desk seemed willing to help with questions re restaurants, addresses etc but they did not have a great deal of info to share. Still, a positive stay!
In Trastevere a pizzeria by the name of Dar Poeta was the best! great pizza and a calzone dessert! Go early and leave your name. when we left at approx 9 pm there was a huge crowd still waiting for tables!
Again thank you and we will use your services on our next Italy trip!
Hello, Alex...........where do I begin.
I am not a computer junky and next-to-never even use the internet. My dear husband is 12 years my senior and celebrating a huge birthday this year - 70. So, I decided to surprise him with a trip to Italy. Our 20th anniversary is this year too. I started with Google and didn't know what else to do ......so, I easily found your web site. From there became impressed and excited about intrigued with your descriptions/pictures and maps. So, book out flight, book Villa Belvedere and then 5 months into my planning of the trip (which was not to be a group tour, just the 2 of us doing our own thing) finally announced to dear Ed ( the computer guru and research aficionado) my surprise Birthday present to him. I work on a commission basis and siphoned my cheques into a separate account (unrenowned to Ed) to pay for the whole trip before we left.......I did it! From there, I delegated all research (his expertise) to him for the planning of our trip.
The first bit of advise I would offer to anyone who wants freedom and independence to choose what and when they do what on a trip - don't go with a group!
Secondly, Trust InItalty to guide you with great detail.
Thirdly, don't expect Italy to be inexpensive. Go with a free, open mind and
welcome the wonderful experience of this dynamic, delicious county of warm
people and fantastic foods and wines.
Hotel Ponte Sisto was spectacular. We were upgraded in our room for some reason
and got a suite. We were centrally located - walked to Campo di Fiori. But,
while there were able to walk across the Ponte Sisto bridge (which is only
a walking bridge no traffic) and had a phenomenal experience at an amazing
restaurant - Fabrizio. A MUST. The owner/waiter/host/bartender/gorgeous guy
(one in the same persons) made our dinner the best ever and so much fun as
we sat in the pouring rain - outside - all other patrons sat inside - we loved
it - raining everywhere - a candle, wine, the most marvelous food, atmosphere
and there we were in ROME. WOW. What could have been better? Nothing.
Alex, you asked me to write. This will no doubt take you months to read but
Thank You! Your web site, research and recommendations were a wonderful experience
for us to learn to rely on that service. I will recommend your site to everyone
and WILL use it again.
CIAO!!!!!!!!!!!! InItaly!

Hello David,
Just got back from my long vacation. The Hotel Ponte Sisto was terrific. The room was so comfy with all the modern amenities right in the heart of Rome. It was a pleasure dining in the enclosed patio area each morning and having a very nice breakfast. The staff was also very friendly and helpful when I had questions or needed help. They went out of their way to make my trip even more special.
Next time I'm in Rome I'm staying once again at Hotel Ponte Sisto. The location was also ideal for those of us who like to tour the city while also being close to some great restaurants for your evening dining.
Thanks again,
Mathias L.
Dear Jessica:
Our trip was amazing. So much art and history. Hotel Ponte Sisto Comments:
Our room was over the alley/street directly across from Ponte Sisto leading
into Trastevere - at night tended to be noisy with people returning from evening
in Trastevere district. One night loud music from local bar or resident until
2am woke us all up. Would recommend staying in interior room overlooking inner
courtyard.
Staff very helpful and pleasant although not able to offer optional room until
our last night - we were there for three and had two rooms for first two nights.
Overall very comfortable. Nice bathroom. We sat in pleasant bar area every
night playing cards with coffee or nightcap. Very good breakfasts - plentiful
and lots of variety.
No hidden treasures to offer -- too busy exploring known treasures.
Thank you for your interest.
Jane W.
Dear In Italy,
Thank you for offering such a thorough and honest website. We were happy with all of our choices. The guest reviews on your site are especially helpful. My husband, 23-year-old son and I met our 20-year-old daughter who had been traveling in Italy for a month. We all had a blast!
I write for a local entertainment magazine and I'll be putting together an overview of our entire trip, mentioning IN ITALY of course. Although we planned to stay at three star hotels, we were thankful for the four star Hotel Ponte Sisto in Rome. In the dirt, graffiti, heat, and cacophony that is Rome, Hotel Ponte Sisto (particularly room 113 with the jacuzzi) was a welcome respite. A delicious breakfast sitting on the terrace surrounded by flowers started our day off right. The hotel is well located on a quiet alley across a walking bridge from the wonderful restaurants of Trastevere (especially Fabrizio alla Malva, specializing in seafood) and a short walk from Campo Fiore and Piazza Navona. There are even some nice jewelry stores on the same street as the hotel. All staff members speak English and are very helpful. It's definitely worth the difference in price to survive Rome with grace and comfort! We returned to Hotel Ponte Sisto for our last night and took full advantage of the jacuzzi and a great breakfast before leaving to catch our plane.
Some recommendations:
The airport shuttle service you recommended is wonderful. I highly recommend it. Knowing the charge upfront keeps you from worrying about being cheated by taxi drivers. You also feel relatively safe in a 15 passenger van!
While it is not necessary to speak Italian in the cities, in the country, few people speak English. We went to the spa at Chianciano while in Chiusi and it was nearly impossible to make a reservation for services because NO ONE could understand us and aromatherapy is not in the phrase book! Everyone is very nice and they don't seem to mind that you have no idea what they are saying to you.
When you are shopping, don't touch anything breakable. They will make you pay for it and they won't be nice about it!
Don't buy anything at the Rome airport. These awful women tried to charge me 16 euros for a magazine and paperback book and wanted cash for it. A box of 16 tampons was 10.50 euros. The duty free shops aren't a good deal at all.
Everything in Chiusi was much more reasonably priced. We were there on a Sunday
when few things were open so we didn't get a chance to shop there as much
as we would have liked.
Thank you thank you thank you. I love your website and your staff is amazing.
Best of the best to you,
Cathy K.
Hi Jessica,
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Ponte Sisto. It was elegant without being stuffy - our room was very comfortable and the bathroom was awesome - marble floors and a huge whirlpool tub. The staff was very helpful and informative, and being able to eat breakfast every morning in that beautiful courtyard terrace was indeed a treat. We were also delighted to find many good restaurants in a very short (5 minutes) walking distance just over the bridge (not to mention that the views from that bridge at sunset are to die for). My kids loved the location too - every place we stayed at afterwards, someone would say, "well, this is nice, but it is not the Hotel Ponte Sisto." It is with great pleasure that we recommend the Hotel Ponte Sisto to anyone planning a trip to Rome.
Thanks again for all your help - we had a fabulous trip, and you certainly contributed to making it so pleasurable.

Julie/Jessica,
I wanted to thank both of you for helping us plan what turned out to be the best vacation I have ever taken. Just about everything you recommended turned out to be wonderful and with some nice surprises. I don't want to give you a day by day summary so I will try to hit the highpoints.
The Hotel Ponte Sisto was wonderful. Although the rooms are not very large they were extremely clean and well appointed. The bathroom was very large (almost half the size of the bedroom) and had all of the amenities needed. The hotel staff was very helpful on a number of occasions and the bartender (I forgot his name) gave us a couple of wonderful recommendations for dinner. The location of the hotel couldn't have been more perfect. It was in easy walking distance of everything we wanted to see - including visiting our daughter who is studying in Rome and staying in an apartment in Trastevere. We just walked over the Sisto bridge and were within a 15 minute walk of her place. As I said we were able to walk to the Spanish Steps, The Trevi fountain, The Forum, the Pantheon, the Coliseum, the Wedding Cake building, etc. Best of all we had easy access to Piazza Navona (we went there every afternoon for cappucino/vino and the never ending people watching/entertainment). Again, the Hotel was wonderful - the only minor problem we had was getting some laundry done - it came back very damp and we had to send it back. This was fixed very quickly. Some restaurants in the area I would recommend: El Ciak - a great little place across the Tiber river in Trastevere serving mainly meat. We had the Wild Boar (all four of us) and it was excellent - not very expensive either. Also in Trastevere was (I think the spelling is correct) Corncopia serving very good fish - also at reasonable prices with great service. We also had dinner at Cafe 54 (near the steps) - too "touristy" and the service was poor, even though the food was good. Before I forget we had a very nice breakfast each morning with choices of croissants, meat, cheese, cereal, fruit, eggs, etc.

Julie-
I had a wonderful stay in Italy and hotel Ponte Sisto made it extra special. I had a single room and also a double one and both were immaculately clean and more spacious than I expected. The hotel was very upscale and I was glad that I had chosen it. The only complaint I had was in my double room, I faced the street and it was extremely noisy. We had to keep the windows open because the heat in our room was unbearable. Other than that, I had a wonderful stay. Thank you so much for all of your help.
Sincerely,
Melissa C.
Dear Julie,
I cannot tell you how overjoyed we were with the Hotel Ponte Sisto. It surpassed all of our expectations, which were quite high to begin with. The location is superb, and the staff is courteous and extremely helpful. Like all European hotels, the rooms are smaller than we Americans are used to in the U.S. These, however, are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The beds are perfect and the bathroom is gorgeous! We were there for nine nights and would definitely go back there when we return to Rome.
We arrived on Christmas day, 2004 and very little was open in Rome. The concierge recommended a restaurant for dinner that was just across the river in Trastevere. What a find!! Fabrizio's is a small family-owned and operated restaurant that specializes in fish and seafood. Since we had travelled all night and were trying to stay awake until at least 10 p.m Rome time, we were, of course, tired and hungry when we arrived at the restaurant. Claudio and his wife Irene and son Simon were more than welcoming. We asked him to serve us whatever he suggested, and we had the most amazing six- or seven-course dinner at an incredibly reasonable price. We enjoyed it so much that we made reservations for New Year's Eve and actually ended up eating there a total of four times. For food, value, and the warmth of the proprietors, we did not find another restaurant in Rome that even came close, and we tried several. In fact, we keep in touch with Claudio via email. He is now a friend as well as our favorite restauranteur.
All in all, I would say this was probably the best vacation we have ever taken despite the fact that it rained all but one of the days we were there. A good part of what made it so fantastic was the Hotel Ponte Sisto!!
Julie, we would be very pleased if you would post our reactions on your website.
Sincerely,
Lauren & Ron B.
Dear Jessica,
Thank you for your email. I wish I had something more interesting to say other than we had a lovely time. We had stayed at Hotel Ponte Sisto last year and liked both the hotel and its location, which is why we returned.
Our rooms were comfortable, the staff helpful and accommodating, but the chief advantage is its location ‹ across the bridge to Trastevere, around the corner to Via Guilia...a left and then another left to the Piazza Farnese, the Campo de Fiori and on to the Piazza Navona...a left and then a right to the ghetto or the Piazza Argentina ... and then only a minute more to the Pantheon. It simply wonderful to step out the door and feel so much of Rome around us. (So much more interesting than the "global mall" around the Piazza di Spagna.) Just a splendid location.
Hidden treasures? Trastervere across the bridge, Borromini's Perspective Gallery at the Palazzo Spada, just a minute away. I think this covers it. Would we stay there again? Absolutely.
Again, thank you for your help and we will remain in touch for our next trip, perhaps in October. Until, Charlotte and I wish you a happy and healthy 2004 and
Our Best Wishes,
Robert S.
Dear Jessica,
I'm actually glad you wrote since I was anxious to tell you how much we LOVED the Hotel Ponte Sisto and were only sorry we couldn't stay longer. It was the perfect hotel to begin our Italy vacation in. The room was spacious, and they honored our request by putting us on the top floor with an incredible and breath-taking view of Rome. We felt like we were in a movie when we first arrived and opened the large window shutters and took in the view of Rome. They served breakfast out in their beautiful patio. We also loved the neighborhood....very quaint, charming and full of hidden treasures.
You will definitely hear from us again when we figure out how to return to Italy.
Ciao,
Frank L.
Jessica,
We had a really wonderful trip. I'd like to thank In Italy for your help in planning our adventure.
We loved the Hotel Ponte Sisto. The hotel was nice (about equivalent to a Hilton or Sheraton in the States). The neighborhood is wonderful. We really enjoyed walking from the hotel to the Trevi Fountain. Across the river is a very blue collar neighborhood where we found a great little restaurant, but that area looks a little dicey. Going in the other direction, we explored extensively.
We flew into Rome and spent one night at the Rome Airport Hotel. The next day we took the subway to the Euro Star and the Euro Star to Naples. From Naples we took a ferry to Sorrento and then a bus to Positano (we saw a lot more of the towns on bus than we would have by ferry). The bus dropped us off within sight of our hotel, the Marin canto. We found this hotel in Rick Steves' guide and liked it very much.
We went back to Rome the same way, spent 3 nights at the Hotel Ponte Sisto and 3 nights at the Hassler. Getting from the train station to the Ponte Sisto was confusing because the direction from In Italy say to get off the number 64 bus at Largo (something that starts with the letter "A"), but that is not what the bus stop is called. The bus stop is Torre (something that starts with an "A"). And there are several stops with the same name. The next instruction is to turn right down a street we never found. We had a street map, so we relied on that instead.
Moving to the Hassler was a little disappointing. The Spanish Steps were always full of teenagers who were smoking and drinking. Most of our outings took us back down towards Piazza Navona (sorry if I'm really messing up the spelling). But you can't beat the views from the Hassler!
Our 2 favorite restaurants were:
Hosteria Romana
Via San Paolo alla Regola 29/31 (near Campo de'Fiori)
06-686-1917
Ristorante Il Gabriello (3 blocks from the Spanish Steps)
Via Vittoria 51
06-6994-0810
So, thank you again! We will use your services the next time we head to the Eternal City.
Best regards,
Tricia K.
Hi Julie
Just wanted to answer your email about my trip to Rome. It was great, and the Hotel Ponte Sisto was very nice and well located. The hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful and I understand that all the rooms are quite different. I had room 110 which was on the smaller side but had a private courtyard. This would be especially nice during good weather. Room 113 is the largest room in the hotel. It was about a 15 minute walk to the Vatican, and in the other direction it was about 5 minutes to Campo di Fiori and another 5 minutes to Piazza Navona, both of which are desirable destinations. I would stay there again.
The Borghese Gallery was certainly a highlight, and you should not hesitate to recommend it to travelers. Also, the scavi tour at St. Peter's is not well known but very interesting and needs tickets.
Thanks again for your help in arranging some parts of this trip.
Ramona V.
Hi Julie,
Please rest assured that our trip to Rome was a true success. The hotel was just fine, and I suspect they gave us a finer room than we asked (and paid!) for. Which was quite fine, not the least since this was our honeymoon trip.
As a special bonus, we found this very special lunch restaurant "Casa Bleve". Their prices are slightly higher than the average trattoria on the piazza, but the food and service is many times better. Really the place to go if you - like us - enjoy eating and drinking well during two hours.
Finally a big thanks for the service you're providing on your web site. I really appreciate the simple procedure for booking the hotel.
Cheers,
Georg W.
Hi,
We had a marvelous time in Rome and the Ponte Sisto Hotel was very good and fully lived up to our expectations. I'll be getting back to you when we go to Rome next time, possibly next year, this will probably turn into yearly tradition :-) for us.
Best regards,
Thomas H.
Dear In Italy,
The Hotel Ponte Sisto was excellent. Great location, helpful staff, excellent room. We could not be more pleased. I thought it was a great value also.
I must say that everything we booked through InItaly worked out great. The hotel, the villa, the car rental and the bike trip worked out fast and efficiently. For example, we went to the car rental office and were out in just a few minutes without a hitch. Again the value was good. The bicycle trip with Marco and Juliana was also excellent. They were friendly, informative and helpful. The ride was hard but doable even for a semi-novice. The lunch and wine tasting at the end was delicious and a lot of fun.
Thanks again for your help. I will recommend you to all my friends and will certainly call when I go back in 2 to 3 years.
Jim R.
Dear In Italy,
We want to let you know how wonderful the Hotel Ponte Sisto was. The rooms are the nicest I have ever had in Europe and the hotel itself was lovely. I am already recommending this spot to all my friends.
The location could not be better. Nice and quiet but so close to everything. Christmas-time was a great time to see Rome, wonderful decorations, fairs, etc. and New Year's was a blast. We had our 15 and 19 year-olds and they loved the chaos of Popolo........
The hotel recommended some nice local restaurants and assisted with our New Year's Reservations (at Vecchia Roma-which was recommended by you and some friends that had recently been to Rome). The front desk was not overwhelmingly helpful but would accommodate when asked-I know they cater to tour groups and maybe aren't used to individuals making concierge-type requests.
Thanks,
Peggy M.
Dear Cynthia,
We found the Hotel Ponte Sisto to be top grade. It was very nice with all the conveniences. Would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. In addition to being a first class hotel, its location for visiting the sites of Rome was great. So many sites in easy walking distance.
Regards,
Dick and Betty S.
Julie,
Thanks for your inquiry. Our trip to Italy was flawless. The Hotel Ponte Sisto was a real gem. We stayed in the Belevedere Room on the top floor and the view was enough to make us brave the chilly temperature and enjoy the lovely terrace overlooking the Vatican and across to Trastevere. The Jacuzzi tub knocked the fatigue out of our bones from the flight and we hit the ground running. Off season prices were great and the staff was extremely pleasant and relaxed. I was not expecting the grandeur of the terrace and the view. It was also VERY quiet, which is amazing for Rome in general.
Having been in Rome a couple of times before, the pressure was off as far as trying to take in alot of sights. Our goal on this trip was to explore the neighborhoods, do some shopping, sit in the Piazza, do nothing. The location of the Hotel Ponte Sisto in relation to the neighborhoods we wanted most to explore (Trastevere, Campo di Fiori, Piazza Navonna area, Vatican City) made everything an easy stroll to and from the hotel. Getting up in the morning and taking a 5 minute walk to the Campo di Fiore to watch the early morning action was an event in itself and one that is highly recommended.
On a previous trip to Rome about 6 years ago, we discovered a great restaurant in the Trastevere called "Il Ciak". Now we can hardly make ourselves eat anywhere else. It's the tiniest of places and easily missed, front window hung full of dead birds, but don't let that put you off. (I'm convinced they make it a little off-putting on purpose.) Here, everything is grilled on an old gigantic firepit by Sammy who will make you the best veal chop and grilled artichokes you've ever had. The menu is extensive, deserts amazing and the owners practically drown you in Limoncello at the end of the meal. Il Ciak is at Vicolo del Cinque 21 in Trastevere. 6 years ago, it was filled with locals but now we realize the tourists have found it; there's still a nice mix of folks. Definitely call ahead or you won't get a table. 06/5894774. Paolo speaks pretty good English and will make you a reservation. We have eaten at the Hassler and many other expensive restaurants in Rome and this is hands down the most authentic and fabulous food you can find in Rome.
A recent find was a great tea shop, which was a nice diversion from all the coffee we usually drink while in Italy. Caffe Novecento on Via del Governo Vecchio 12 (06-6865242). Wonderful ambience, great selection of infused teas and fabulous pastries and cakes. Just perfect on a chilly February evening.
In the Piazza di Spagna there's a great glove shop called Sergio di Cori. A pair of gloves from this store is a real treat, the leather instantly forms itself to your hand and they are moderately priced. Every color. Every imaginable style.
There is a branch of the Farmacia Santa Maria Novella (original is in Florence) on Corso del Rinascimento 47. It's worth the trip to the store to just walk in and enjoy the smell. Pick up at least a bar of soap. Your suitcase will smell like heaven for the rest of the trip!
A new experience for me this time was going to an Enoteca, asking to see the cellar and making some wine purchases and having it shipped. The cost to ship a case is $85 which I thought was reasonable given the great prices on the wine, compared to what they cost here. The very best Italian wines never get to America and I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of some wines I have only dreamed of having.
Thanks so much for your help on this trip. We will definitely use your services again.
Best regards,
Lori C.
Dear In Italy,
The Ponte Sisto is a wonderful hotel which exceeded our expectations. It is quiet and in a great location. The rooms are very comfortable and have everything and anything one might need, from beautiful bathrooms, mini bar, high speed internet connections, and and AC system that works. The courtyard and rooftop terrace is a beautiful quiet resting place from the frenetic world of street Rome.
I left my camera in our room by mistake upon our departure. The hotel delivered it to the USA express overnight mail the next day. The desk clerk doubles as a desk clerk and concierge, but was available to help us always. The breakfast was more than adequate.
Great hotel.
Sincerely,
MCM
Dear In Italy,
Ponte Sisto was really nice. We were surprised by the huge balcony. It was great. I wouldn't say the staff was particularly friendly, but other than that I would definitely recommend this hotel--good location, totally renovated with high standards, and considering that we had a suite and a huge balcony--not overpriced.
Thanks for your help. We will certainly use you again and recommend you.
Robin
Dear Julie:
We enjoyed the Hotel Ponte Sisto, especially the location. Being right across the bridge from Trastevere is a major plus. Trastevere is a very hip area with some excellent restaurtants. We especially enjoyed Archi's, Gino's and Sabatini's. There's a very old church, Santa Maria in Trastevere, which is not only physically interesting, but has a very spiritual feeling. My wife, who is not Catholic, light a candle for her father. It's also easily walkable to the major sites. If you are a walker, you can even make it to the Vatican and St. Peter by foot.
The hotel staff is very helpful and friendly. We had some minor issues, but that's a result of staying in an Italian hotel. I'm a shower person, so you have to clarify upfront that you want a room with a shower. We're from Florida and our air conditioning is the heavy duty type. But these concerns are minor. We'd definitely stay there again.
Sincerely,
Marty R.
Dear Cynthia,
Our trip to Italy was a truly wonderful experience. We divided the trip into 3 segments (3 nights in Rome, 3 in Tuscany and then the last 3 nights in Rome). Our hotels in Rome were quite nice, particularly the Hotel Ponte Sisto (which we highly recommend). It has all the modern amenities and is within easy walking distance to the all of the Roman antiquities. Both locations were noisy at night so if you like to have the windows open at night, we recommend the rooms overlooking the courtyards.
Lou V.
Dear In Italy,
Had a great time in Italy. Thank you so much for your arrangements and information.
Hotel Ponte Sisto was wonderful. The location was central and perfect for walking all over Rome. The room was new, comfortable and quiet. The staff was professional and helpful. One day, I went to the Campo de Fiori and purchased some vegetable that I had never seen. The hotel staff brought in the head of housekeeping to identify it and advise me on how you would cook it. They offered to cook it up for me. Very helpful and down to earth. The hotel has a restaurant but it seems you must make special arrangements (more than just reservations?) to eat there. I'll go back to this hotel.
Marie B.
Greetings,
We enjoyed the Ponte Sisto-friendly staff, nice rooms, good location. We especially enjoyed our patio. However, our room (second floor) was hot and noisy. It was too hot to close the windows so noise became a problem and because of the location of our room the hot sun attacked us by 8AM. The fact that we could never close our balcony windows and door because of the heat made noise and light a problem. I love Rome and expect the racket but we had zero protection against the noise. I would stay at the Ponte Sisto again but in the winter. I also think a/c was listed in the description.
Thanks-Ruth Y.
Dear In Italy,
Hotel Ponte Sisto was just wonderful. The nicest hotel we stayed in during our visit to Italy. The decor in the hotel is beautiful. Hotel staff fluent in english, very professional, and most helpful. Has a beautiful courtyard inside the hotel common area that you could relax and read, have a glass of wine or just enjoy the environs. The breakfast was great with cereals to choose from, different breads, fruits, cheeses, etc. A nice little bar in the hotel that you could sit and have a glass of wine or a cocktail. The room lovely with Italian marble througout in the bathroom. A real plus: built in adapter for U.S. electrical equipment. Able to charge our video camera, cell phone, palm pilot etc. Bed very comfortable, room not big but most adequate. Very quiet room if you kept the windows closed. But we enjoyed leaving the windows open and listening to the outside hustle and bustle and the noise quieted down considerably late at night. Just a step away for taxi or bus service. Close to walk to most of the sights -Coliseum, Pantheon, Trastevere, shopping, Piazza Navona etc. You could walk to the Vatican but would take about 45 min. A block away from the Tiber River. You can buy your bus ticket across the street from the Hotel Ponte Sisto at the Tabacchi shop. Highly recommend the Hotel Ponte Sisto. By the way, the weather was spectacular. Not a day of rain. Considering we are from the Northwest.
Thank You
Paul & Sue C.
