An unassuming beige building hides this elegant Venetian hotel, which occupies one side of a typical Venetian square in a residential neighborhood close to St. Mark’s and Rialto. To look at the simple façade, unadorned except for well-tended window boxes, you would never suspect that the interior is a symphony of gleaming marble, plush velvet, delicately hand-painted coffered ceilings, creamy brocades and glittery Murano glass chandeliers. Great care has been taken to make this an elegant retreat with a warm, inviting atmosphere that will inspire you to relax and step into another dimension: the vacation dimension! The hotel’s friendly young staff is always happy to help you with any plans or suggestions you may need.

Location: On Campo Santa Marina, 15-20 minutes’ walk from Rialto and from St. Mark’s. This is a charming area filled with tiny canals, covered passageways, minuscule squares, and shops and eateries frequented by locals. Click here to see a map.   Transportation: The #1 vaporetto, which you take from Piazzale Roma or the Tronchetto parking lot, stops at Rialto (best) or San Marco (a bit farther). From Rialto there are two small bridges to cross. If you take a private water taxi, it can stop right in front of the door.   Rooms: 55, including single, double, triple and quad rooms. All rooms are beautifully furnished in the Venetian manner (which means very ornate!). Every room has two twin beds or one queen bed, plus a private bathroom. Some rooms face a side canal or the piazza. Non-smoking rooms are available.   Features: The lobby is very elegant, with walnut-paneled walls, red-and-white harlequin marble floors, and leather and brocade furnishings. Rooms are furnished strictly in antique Venetian style, with brocade walls and upholstery, and parquet or carpeted floors. Each guest room has a small desk, air conditioning (April-September), direct-dial telephone, satellite TV and mini-bar, plus a private bathroom with hair dryer. Most of the bathrooms have tubs with curtains. Some rooms have whirlpool tubs in the bathrooms.   Facilities: Elevator, cocktail bar, breakfast room. There is a covered patio for breakfast during the warmer months.
