Located directly on the ancient panoramic road which leads to the famous medieval town of San Gimignano and its famous towers, San Gimignano Country Resort awaits you with warm Tuscan hospitality.
Thanks to its central position in the heart of Tuscany, San Gimignano Country Resort is an ideal starting point to discover some of the most beautiful and atmospheric places in this region – Florence, Siena, Monteriggioni, Volterra, and of course San Gimignano!
The property offers 11 apartments whose sizes vary among one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments with one or two bathrooms. Each apartment sleeps a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 6 people and is composed of a living room, kitchenette with microwave/grill and full fridge (dishwashers are provided in the larger apartments), heating/air conditioning, satellite TV and telephone. Some apartments also have a fireplace. All apartments are charmingly furnished in the typical Tuscan style.
FIENILE DI SOPRA (1 double bedroom, 1 bathroom) terrace – 2 people (45 sq.m). On the ground floor with a private entrance, living/dining room with sofa and kitchen area (fully equipped, with microwave/grill as well), 1 double bedroom, 1 bathroom with shower. Originally, it was a hay-loft where all the cereals, wheat and products from the fields were stored. For this reason, part of the living room external wall is made of a sort of "brick grill" to let the air in; obviously today there is a glass window! From the bedroom window there is a gorgeous view of the valley. Outside, there is a small private terrace furnished with table and chairs, with a beautiful view of the countryside.
FIENILE DI SOTTO (1 double bedroom, 1 bathroom) terrace – 2 people (55 sq. m). On the ground floor and different levels. You enter into the dining room with kitchenette (fully equipped, with microwave/grill as well); upstairs, there is a living room on an open overhead gallery (with beautiful views of the valley), as well as a queen bedroom and bathroom with shower. In the past, this was the hayloft ("Fienile") where people stored the products of the fields, especially cereals. There is a private small terrace with beautiful view, furnished with table and chairs.
CAMPANINA (1 double bedroom, 1 bathroom) – 2 people (45 sq. m.). On the 1 st floor of the main Villa. Living/dining room with sofa and kitchenette (fully equipped, with microwave/grill as well), 1 double bedroom, bathroom with bath-tub (with access up 3 steps from the bedroom). It is a very intimate and cosy apartment with a nice view of the countryside. The name of the apartment means "little bell": in the past, on the roof of this apartment, there was a bell of the Christian chapel for the noble family who lived there.
SCUOLA (1 double bedroom, 1 bathroom) – 2 people (60 sq. m.). Located on the ground floor, with access from the main door of the Villa. Spacious living/dining room with sofa and kitchen area (fully equipped, with microwave/grill as well), 1 double bedroom with canopy bed, 1 bathroom with shower. Very refined and tasteful decorations; every window opens onto the beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. This apartments use to be the school for the children of the community living here.
MANGIATOIA (1 double bedroom, 2 single sofa beds, 1 bathroom, terrace) – 2/4 people (90 sq. m.). Located on the ground floor. Large living/dining room with two single daybeds and kitchenette (fully equipped, with microwave/grill as well), 1 double bedroom with access up 2 steps, an en suite bathroom with shower (access from the bedroom). Also from the bedroom there is access to a private terrace with dining table and beautiful views. Mangiatoia has a vaulted ceiling; the big manger ("Mangiatoia") for food and drinking water is still visible.
NICCHIE (2 double bedrooms, 1 bathroom) – 2/4 people (60 sq. m.). On the ground floor, with access from the main door of the Villa. Kitchen/dining room (fully equipped, with microwave/grill as well), 1 double bedroom with canopy bed, 1 twin or queen bedded room, 1 bathroom with shower. From each window of this apartment there is a very beautiful view of the countryside.
VOLTINA (2 double bedrooms, 1 bathroom) – 2/4 people (70 sq. m.). On the ground floor, with access from the main door of the Villa. Living/dining room with kitchenette (fully equipped, with microwave/grill as well) and open upper level with 1 double bedroom. On the ground level there is 1 bedroom with twin beds that can be placed together to make a queen size bed, 1 bath with shower. There is a great view from this apartment: out of the windows you can see cypresses, vineyards, olive trees, fields and farmhouses just as if they were in a picture frame.
SCALINA (2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) terrace – 4 people (75 sq. m). Enter on the ground floor of the main Villa; large living/dining room with kitchenette (fully equipped with microwave/grill, dishwasher); 1 bedroom with twin beds (which can be placed together to form a queen size bed), 2 bathrooms with shower. Going up an ancient spiral stairway you reach the queen bedroom. This stair, discovered by chance during restoration, gives the name of the apartment. It is a very bight and comfortable apartment with a large private furnished terrace and magnificent views of the countryside.
ABBAINO (2 double bedrooms, 1 bathroom) – 2/4 people (100 sq. m.). On the 1st floor, with access from the main door of the Villa; living/dining room with kitchenette (fully equipped, with microwave/grill and dishwasher as well), fireplace, couch, 1 double bedroom with a tiny balcony which faces the main courtyard, 1 twin bedroom (these 2 beds cannot be placed together), 1 bath with shower. "Abbaino" is a sky-light, a peculiarity of Tuscan villas: there is one in the twin bedroom. Beautiful views.
PICCIONAIA (2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) – 4 people (80 sq. m.). On the first floor, with access from the main door of the Villa. Dining room with access (by a stairway) to the living room located on an open overhead gallery. The kitchenette is fully equipped, with microwave/grill and dishwasher as well. There are 2 double bedrooms (one with queen size bed and the other with twin beds that can be placed together to form a queen size bed if required), 2 bathrooms with shower. The sitting room with sofa is where the pigeon loft used to be; it is the highest room on the estate, offering a splendid 360° view of the countryside (it is also possible to see San Gimignano's skyline).
CISTERNA (2 double bedrooms, sofa bed, 2 bathrooms) terrace – 4/5 people (100 sq. m.). On the ground floor, with private entrance and private terrace equipped with table and chairs. Large living room with 1 sofabed and 1 sofa; dining area and the kitchenette (fully equipped with microwave/grill and dishwasher as well), 2 double bedrooms (1 with 1 queen size bed and 1 with 2 single beds which can be placed together to form a queen size bed when required), 2 bathrooms with shower. The decoration of this apartment is very elegant; the name "Cisterna" comes from the old tank / cistern where they use to store the grinded wheat. From every window it is possible to enjoy an amazing view of the countryside.
CUCINONE (3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) terrace – 4/6 people (120 sq.m.). On the ground floor; large living/dining room with kitchen area (fully equipped, microwave/grill and dishwasher as well) , 3 double bedrooms (one has twin beds that can be put together to make a queen size bed, two have canopy beds), 2 bathrooms (one is en suite). There is also a small terrace equipped with table and chairs with a panoramic view of the countryside. Cucinone is one of our most elegant apartments.
OFFICINA (2 double bedrooms, sofabed, 2 bathrooms) garden – 4/5 people (90 sq. m.). On the ground floor. Living/dining room (with a single sofabed); kitchen (fully equipped, with microwave/grill and dishwasher as well); 1 double bedroom with in suite bathroom with shower; the second double bedroom with 2 twin beds that can be placed together to make a queen size bed); 1 bathroom with shower. One of the nice peculiarity of this apartment is its large and beautiful private garden, equipped with tables and chairs and with a beautiful view of the countryside.
CAPANNA DI SOTTO (2 double bedrooms, sofa bed, 2 bathrooms)
patio – 4/5 people (95 sq.m.) on two floors. On the ground floor there is a living/dining room with kitchen area (fully equipped, with microwave/grill and dishwasher as well), 1 twin bedded bedroom (the beds can be placed together to form a queen size bed), 1 bathroom with shower. On the first floor, there is an open overhead gallery with full-size sofabed and one double bedroom with bathroom with bathtub. Large furnished patio which gives extra room to the apartment. From the terrace, it is possible to enjoy the beautiful view of the valley.
CAPANNA DI SOPRA (3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) garden – 6 people (100 sq. m.). Independent house surrounded by a large private garden with beautiful views, equipped with table and chairs. The apartment is located on the ground floor and has a living/dining room with fireplace and adjacent kitchenette (fully equipped, with microwave/grill and dishwasher as well); from the living /dining area you have access to one bedroom (with queen size bed and outdoor access) and one bathroom; from the other side of the room you have access to a walkway with two bedrooms (one with queen size bed and outdoor access, the other one with twin beds - that can be placed together to form a queen size bed if needed) and 1 bathroom.
The villa is surrounded by a large park with centuries-old cypress trees. Guests can meander through the lanes among a rich variety of green plants, colorful flowers and delightful scents, or enjoy the shade under a delightful gazebo with wrought-iron tables and chairs, or treat themselves to a refreshing swim in a large 48X24-foot pool which has been specially placed to incorporate the spectacular views of the countryside. In addition the villa has ample parking spaces located inside the property.
For lovers of fine cuisine and prestigious wines, San Gimignano Country Resort is pleased to offer the possibility to dine three times a week in the magnificent gardens or else by candlelight in the romantic cellar. The Chef creates traditional Tuscan dishes, with home-made recipes, accompanied by wonderful local wines and our own fragrant extra-virgin olive oil.
