Resort Le Torri Di Bagnara Historical Residences

Come to the warm, green heart of Umbria. Country Resort Le Torri di Bagnara - Medieval Historical Residences is part of the Bagnara Estate, an agro-zootechnic farm featuring 590 hectares of water-plain, woods and pastures. The farm is crossed by the Tiber River and is dotted with small lakes, brooks and medieval castles. The estate raises roe deer, hares and Chianina cattle (the valuable breed famous for its T-bone steak!). The Castello della Pieve (Castle of the Parish Church) is located near the farmhouse. Originating from the 11th century, this is a real fortress in which the mercenary leader Alberico da Barbiano sought refuge a number of times and where in 1409 he passed away. Barbiano was the founder of the Compagnia di San Giorgio, which Gregorovius called the school of the most famous Italian leaders.

The property has been owned by the present Giunta Tremi family since 1901. This noble family are descendants of Joseph Bonaparte (King of Spain and King of Naples) and Lucien Bonaparte (Prince of Canino), both brothers of Emperor Napoleon the 1st. The family prides itself in welcoming guests to Umbria and offering first-class hospitality!

The complex is made of 3 ancient buildings:

1) The TORRE (12th-century tower and adjacent residence, with large terraced garden) that features 4 luxury apartments: 1 that sleeps 2 (living room with kitchen corner, small double bedroom, en suite bathroom with shower), 2 apartments that sleep 4, and 1 apartment that sleeps 5 (each apartment features 2 double bedrooms, one bathroom with tub & hand shower or shower, large full kitchen, living room). There is also a single room with bathroom which can be rented together with an apartment. The apartments feature color satellite TV, dishwasher, fireplace, independent heating system, original 19th-century furniture, barrel vault ceilings, terracotta floors, wood beams, old arches, Romanesque windows. Each apartment has towels, bed and household linen, pool towels, hairdryer, a GSM mobile telephone and parking space in the car park . On the ground floor there is a large common room, laundry and panoramic terrace; the 1.000 sqm terraced garden features an equipped barbecue area and covered parking.

2) PIEVE SAN QUIRICO (11th-century abbey with a bell-tower, church and parish house):
The PIEVE features a Relais de Charme with 4 luxury double rooms and 3 junior suites and all guests staying here will enjoy a wonderful breakfast buffet. The inner Restaurant just opened and offers a delicious genuine Umbrian cookery made exclusively with the products of the Farm and of other Umbrian Farms; bread, pasta and cakes are home made by our Cooker. On request a tailor made diet is available, such as: vegetarian, vegan, glutin free, egg free, ecc. Guest rooms have air conditioning, private bathroom including bathtub and shower (some have a hydro-massage bathtub), web service, modem pc plug, satellite TV, telephone, mini-bar, safe-box, hairdryer, towels for the swimming-pool, and are furninshed with authentic XVIII and XIX century furniture. Rooms have originally wooden-beam ceilings and brick floors. In the central building 3 double rooms and 2 junior suites have windows that overlook the gardens, the swimming-pool and the Tevere valley. On the first floor of the Sacristy are located another double room and a junior suite. These rooms have an independent entrance and for this reason are suitable for a family or a group of four people. Located on the first floor, the windows of these rooms overlook the court and the swimming-pool, and one can enter through an external stone staircase. Concerts, ceremonies, and meetings take place in the beautiful Abbey Church.

3) CASA QUIRICO (17th-century residence with large garden): reception, office, Internet point, fax service, and tasting room for home made farm products (Tuscan DOC White & Red Wine, extra virgin Olive Oil, Honey), kitchen and room for our typical Umbrian cooking classes.

Between the tower and the Parish Church, there is a large panoramic sea salt water pool (120 m2), in the shape of a fan amidst a beautiful large garden (5.000 sqm), made by a landscape architect, with flower, cherry and olive trees, overlooking the valley with views of Mount Subasio and Assisi. T here is a Botanic garden and a kitchen garden also.
