The Monsignor della Casa Country Resort is an old little village in the heart of the Tuscan countryside,
only 27 km from Florence. It consists of stone farmhouses, with a private swimming-pool and typical Tuscan-style
recently-restructured Tuscan townhouses, which are part of a 200-hectare estate. This also includes a 15th-century
Renaissance Villa, where Monsignor Giovanni della Casa was born. He was a descendant of the Medici family,
the author of the first books on etiquette ever written in the world, "GALATEO," and he rose to fame as Vatican
Secretary of State under Pope Paul IV. The valley of Mugello has always been a land of art and culture. It
was home to painters such Beato Angelico and Giotto, who was born in a house which is only 3Km from the estate
and is now a museum.
In the wide park of the country Resort, which is completely fenced-in, there are two swimming-pools (16x8mt), both with whirlpool, one wine bar and restaurant for tasting of various kinds of cheese and wine, tennis court, ping-pong, volley ball court, children playground, barbecue, mountain-bikes and a laundry. All the apartments have typical old-style Tuscan furniture, independent access, outdoor-space provided with outdoor furniture, tv with satellite and telephone with private number.
The reception organizes lessons of Tuscan cooking, painting, archery, Italian
language, guided tours, naturalistic excursions and mountain bike tours on request;
in November and December you can go out with dogs in search of white truffles.
The country Resort is 3Km from Borgo San Lorenzo, the most important village in Mugello because of its history and the services it offers, important for the railway station, from where the city of Florence can be reached and for various little shops and good cosy restaurants. Not very far away is the golf course (18 holes, 7 km far from the resort), schools of sailing on the big Bilancino lake (10km from the Resort), flying-area 4 km away and various horse-riding centres.
There are several different types of houses and apartments ranging from studios for two people to three-bedroom, three-bathroom units. All have modern bathrooms and kitchens, and a private garden or patio. Some have fireplaces. There are also some suites for 2-6 people, also with kitchenettes. Lastly, there are two private villas for 8+4 and 12+4, each with its own private swimming pool.
