Located about five miles from the walled city of Lucca, this 70-acre farm combines pure tranquillity
with easy access to the highway. The friendly owners, who speak fair English, produce Chardonnay and Sauvignon
grapes, which are transformed into wine in their own wine cellar, with an annual production of about 18,000
bottles. Olive oil, honey and jam are also made right on the farm, which is frequently visited by a small
herd of wild horses.
Guests stay in a recently renovated farmhouse located at the foot of the vineyards, just steps from a
lush forest and the banks of the Freddana, a perfect stream for fishermen. There is a barbecue, and two real
ovens to make pizza, barbecue and where you can try to make the typical lucca bread, discovering the true
Tuscan flavours. Walking the country you can find some fruit trees (apple, pear, plum, cherry, fig, peach….),
which can be eaten without problems (we don’t use poisons).
Riding stables are nearby, and a swimming pool and playground are on the property.
A public bus passes the farm "once or twice a day," but as always, we recommend you have your
own transportation, because you'll want to make day trips to beautiful Lucca, Pisa (15 miles), Florence (50
miles), the beach (Forte dei Marmi, 10 miles) and the lake (15 miles). In the summer, pay a visit to Puccini's
home (10 miles) and stay for an outdoor opera by the lake, an unforgettable experience. Operas are also performed
in Lucca, where there's a large open-air market in September and at Christmastime and a colorful religious
procession on September 13.
The farmhouse apartments are:
Marietto (6-7 people): This two-story apartment has a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, and
a living room with fireplace and satellite TV. Upstairs are one double bedroom and two other bedrooms, each
with two single beds. There are two bathrooms with shower. If necessary, there's room for an additional single
bed for a small surcharge.
Lorenzo (6 people): On the ground floor are the entryway, living room with satellite TV, dining
room and a fully equipped kitchen with fireplace and dishwasher. Upstairs are one double bedroom and two other
bedrooms, each with two single beds. There are two bathrooms with shower.
Valle (2-3 people): A charming second-floor apartment adapted from the house's original attic. It
has a kitchen-living room with fireplace and satellite TV, a large double bedroom with an additional single
bed, and a bathroom with shower.
Monte (2-3 people): Basically the same apartment as Valle, except that it faces the mountains instead
of the valley. It has a kitchen-living room with fireplace and satellite TV, a large double bedroom with an
additional single bed, and a bathroom with shower.
Fellino (2-3 people): This roomy apartment is about 800 yards drive from the rest of the farm. It
occupies part of the family's own lovely villa, and it has its own separate entrance. It has a fully equipped
eat-in kitchen with satellite TV, large double bedroom, and bathroom with shower. From the bedroom window
you'll have a breathtaking view of the entire valley all the way to Lucca. Guests who stay here can use part
of the villa's garden or any of the facilities at the farm.
