AOL - address
book - checking spam - link disablers
1.
Adding someone to your Address book, Safelist or Whitelist:
On the left hand side of your AOL email screen should be a list of clickable links.
In this list you will find a link called "Contacts" as shown in Fig. 1.0. (right)
Fig. 1.0
Once the contact page loads up, you will need to click the "New" button as shown in fig. 1.1 below:
Fig. 1.1
Click on the button then select "New Contact" from the drop down. On the new page that displays, enter in all the information for your new contact/address book entry.
When you are done, click on the "Create" button, which will now be in the same location as the New button was earlier, as shown in fig 1.2 below.
Fig. 1.2
2. Checking your Spam and Trash folders for missing emails:
On the left hand side again in the list of links, you will also find links to your Spam and Trash folders, as shown in fig 1.3 below.
Fig. 1.3
Just click on one of the two links and it will show you all the emails in your Spam or Trash folder. Many email providers will automatically empty your Trash for you on a nightly or weekly basis, and some will do it for your Spam folder as well. If an email is missing that you should have received, 9 times out of 10 you will find it in either your Spam folder or your Trash folder. Be prepared to see many other emails that you DON'T want while searching for the one that may have made its way into one of those two folders by mistake.
3. Email link Disablers!!!! The links in your email dont
work??:
A new security feature has been added to AOL recently that disables links in your emails to help protect you from harmful websites. A very helpful tool, if you are uncertain as to where these links came from. However, in some situations it can be a detriment to receiving important information you may need.
Luckily there is a way for you to still get your information quickly and easily. All you have to do is re-enable your links. When you click on a disabled link, a tiny pop-up will show, giving you the option of allowing links in this message, or always allowing links from the sender. As shown in Fig. 1.4 below:
Fig. 1.4
You can also solve the problem even before you click on the link, as shown in Fig. 1.5 below :
