Dear Jessica.
We enjoyed the Palazzo. I would suggest you inform potential guests that hot water is not always available (off at midnight, on at 7, sometimes off at other times). What else? The train into Genova stops a pretty long way from the Lido, Aquarium, etc. It’s a healthy walk, and we took a cab back up the hill.
Unfortunately, it was overcast, rainy, and cool while we were there, but we were able to return to the Riviera Levante last weekend and spend a day before flying home.
Thank you for your help.

David:
Thank you for your inquiry. We arrived at the Plazzo Fieschi late at night and had to leave the next morning after breakfast. It was very clean, and the staff very helpful. They made hot chocolate for my boys at breakfast which went over big. Upon our departure they gave us a lovely souvenir ceramic dish with their name and crest on it (very classy). Everyone was all smiles and helpful. We are sorry that we didn't have more time to poke around.
Thanks again for your inquiry and the very informative website.

Dear Jessica,
Mike and I returned from Italy on the 10th of August, Mike forwarded your e-mail to me and I finally have the opportunity to take the time to let you know about our stay.
Palazzo Fieschi was probably our most interesting adventure. Palazzo Fieschi is very difficult to find, and we had a Global Positioning System (GPS) in our car. It is a beautiful 'home' - There isn't really anything to do but relax. The town is quite small - We ate in the dining room of the Palazzo, it was very good. I must say we were the youngest people there. All the others were well in their 80's.
All in all we had a trip of a lifetime. I think Venice was my favorite city. We were very lucky, the weather was perfect the entire two weeks we were there. If I ever make it back to Italy, we will contact you for advise. You did not steer us wrong. We will certainly recommend In Italy to our friends.
Ciao!
Mike & Lynne M.
Hello Julie:
Thank you for the message. Palazzo Fieschi was wonderful. We couldn't have asked for better, quiet comfortable, utterly charming. There was a woman who checked us in and was also there the following morning briefly, and she was tremendous, so accommodating, and patient as two jet-lagged adults and one toddler attempted to use their basic Italian (she did speak some English, so that helped us out a lot too). The gardens were wonderful in back as just a quiet resting place.
A gentleman checked us out, he was very friendly, and kind. Our only difficulty was that he told us that our credit card did not work there. He dragged it through the machine quite slowly and so we fear too slowly, for it to register. So we had to pay in Euros. It worked out, but if they are having trouble with their machine, they may want to check it out, as it does inconvenience a traveler slightly.
Our son is only 20 months so it will be a couple years yet before he can share too many stories, but he enjoyed playing at the little park down the road, and he certainly didn't mind that it was well used. He kept himself very busy on our car rides looking at cars, buses, trucks, trains, planes and loved seeing all the cranes. We had a terrific experience, and I hope other parents won't worry too much about taking tots on long trips far from home. I know that each child is different, but our son was so relaxed and loved every minute of it all.
Thank you to everyone at initaly who helped make our stay at P.F. so wonderful.
Sincerely,
Cynthia Truitt L.
Dear In Italy,
Palazzo Fieschi is the most gorgeous place I have ever been. The palace is in the mountains and the air actually smelled like perfume because the honeysuckle was abundant and blooming profusely. The room was gorgeous, the building and grounds were gorgeous and it was so quiet compared to the cities. We were close to the Riviera and the Cinque Terre. We rented a car to get around and saw the most spectacular views. The staff was the friendliest of all the places we stayed. I loved this place.
We have recommended your website to two people already. Everything worked out really well and we are so glad we used you for our bookings. Thanks for your help. This is an excellent website you have to offer.

Hi Julie,
Thanks very much for your message. We had an absolutely wonderful trip to Italy and enjoyed every minute. The accomodations we booked through you were all excellent and we really didn't encounter any significant problems. The only down side to our trip was the weather - it was on the cold side and we had quite a bit of rain, but that's something you can't control. Anyway, I'll make some brief comments about each place we stayed, so feel free to use any or all of the comments on your site.
Palazzo Fieschi was the first place we stayed and it was really lovely, in a picturesque hillside town. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant was excellent with a huge selection of red wines. We made day trips to Milan and Genova, which were easy drives, once we got use to the speed on the Autostrade. Quite by accident, we ate at an excellent restaurant in Genova, called "Ristorante Da Giacomo," it's right on the coastline. The food was superb. If you're a seafood lover try the special spaghetti.
Best regards,
Gillian S.
Dear In Italy,
Palazzo Fieschi is located about 45 minutes to an hour drive from Portofino with no traffic instead of the "half an hour" indicated on your website. We really wanted to stay closer to Portofino. During our stay on November 4th it was sunny and warm on the coast while very cold, rainy and cloudy up in the mountains where Palazzo Fieschi is located. While the location is not what we had expected, the accomodations are very nice. Our room was very spacious, clean and quiet. The restaurant is incredible! The food and service were outstanding! However, we decided to cut our 3-night stay to 1-night and head for some sunshine and warmer weather.
Thank you so much for your help planning our trip! I would definately use your service again and I have already recommended your website to several interested parties.
Sincerely,
Wendy and Ken C.
Dear In Italy,
Nice rooms but after coming from the Villa Serbelloni, in Bellagio, it was a bit of an adjustment. The service at the Palazzo Fieschi was only fair and it was located on the town square so it was noisy. As well as the town watering hole (bar) was next door, so that kept us up a few nights. We did enjoy a day trip to Cinque Terra from here, but we would have prefered being closer. Sadly, this place was our least favorite and not on our "must return" list.

Dear In Italy,
Just wanted to drop a quick email today in regards to my wife and my recent stay (last week) at the Palazzo Fieschi. The directions and included information you provided were excellent and the hotel itself was majestic to say the least. It exceeded our expectations in every way! Particular things that stood out were the extremely friendly and helpful staff, the very clean and historically maintained building, excellent restaurant, and perfect location for a serene stay from which we were able to base our day trips to Cinqueterre, Pisa, and the surrounding villages. Thanks to you it was truly a memorable and most favorite part of our honeymoon. We simply cannot wait to return to Italy, and when we do, we will most definitely look to 'In Italy' as a key resource!!
Best Regards,
Jeffrey A.
Hi...
Thanks for inquiring about my trip. It was really nice staying at Palazzo Fieschi...the people were very helpful, informative...and most of all nice. The hotel was just beautiful. It turned out to be A LOT farther away from the Cinqueterra than I was led to believe, and that was less than thrilling...but as far as the hotel itself...I'd stay there anytime. Also the car rental in Genova was NOT at the train station as I was expecting... just for your information next time.
Local treasures.....yes. A restaurant named Grit in nearby Busala (sp?) Amazing food...as was the hotel's. Thanks again for your help in putting this together. See you next time.
Respectfully,
Kenny w.
Dear Cynthia,
We were thoroughly impressed with Palazzo Fieschi and had a really wonderful holiday there. So much so that we both said we would entertain such an idea again - choosing one of the other "hotels" in the list. It was a wonderful chance to experience being part of a small Italian village. We saw (from a distance) a local girl get married. The reception was in the hotel and the church was across the little village square. The woman at the little grocery where we bought our daily picnic needs got to know us and was pretty good at working out or appalling Italian. The woman at the laundry was charming considering we were unable to communicate at all really! The hotel staff were so thoughful - the restaurant was just delightful and the young waitress got into the habit of helping us to choose our meal and explaining it all so kindly. The standard of food was very good. The hotel was very clean. The room was a picture and the view from our window stunning. The bathroom was tremendous (in Italy the bathrooms are usually AWFUL). The owner of the hotel ran us around when we hired bikes, caught the little local hill train and when we got ourselves in a pickle with the taxi company! Really they could not have done more for us and we were genuinely both sad to leave when the time came.
Thank you for all your help - especially for the appealing listing on the net.

Dear In Italy,
Your services were invaluable for our wonderful trip to Italy. We were surprised and delighted that there are not petty thieves lurking behind every narrow corner. Frankly, we saw Italians leaving their bikes outside pizzerias and shop owners stepping outside their small shops while we browsed and looked. My words to my husband, "You can't do that in U.S.A." Palazzo Fieschi has a warm, hospital staff, who were always ready to help us and to summon their English speaker to assist with language. Breakfast and evening meals were delightful.
We loved staying in the small places away from the cities. Thank you again for your assistance.
