Val d'Orcia Country House's Guestbook

Back to Val d'Orcia Country House

Dear Jessica,

Our trip to Italy went almost without a hitch, from beginning (10/5/09) to end (10/16/09). Arrived at Napoli & went to Minori and Villa Romana, a very nice moderate-priced Amalfi coast hotel. Stayed there for 5 nites & explored the great seaside towns of Amalfi, Positano, etc, then my grandfather's hometown of Palomonte. From there we drove north for the Self-Guided Southern Tuscany Tour. It was more than expected. Silvano at Val D'Orcia Country House was a wonderful host & showed us around Montalcino, fed & wined us as family. Next the tour took us to a very nice small hotel 1 block from Pienza, where Gloria's family were very cordial. To wind up the trip, we went to Florence & stayed at a beautiful hotel very close to the airport so that we could spend one day in Firenze! Not enough time in a world-class city, but had been there before. Cannot find one fault with our hosts, nor the planning help by Initaly.com. Hope to repeat next year.

Dear Kristin,

Finally have time to tell you about some of the highlights of our trip to Italy and what In Italy.com did for us. Most of the hotels were booked thru InItaly.com but I did a couple on my own. The hotels thru you guys were great, and I know better now not to book them on my own. We have to rave about the Val D'Orcia Country House in Tuscany. It is a beautiful setting out in the country amid rolling hills. Silvano, our host speaks fluent English and took good care of us wanting to make sure all our needs were met. He helped us with our itinerary for the day and gave us directions and then provided us with a fabulous 7 course Tuscan meal at night! We thought we were in heaven. They only have 11 rooms, but Silvano gets to know his guests and treats them like family.

I also did the advance reservations for the Uffizi galleries, the Accademia, and the Last Supper. The only problem was for the Last Supper and that was that the time I had on my confirmation and the time they had on their computer were different and we couldn't go at their time they had. So after they talked it over they let us in with an Italian group of school kids.

I would recommend InItaly.com to my friends who will be traveling in the future because it seems to me you guys do your homework.

Thanks,
Mary S.
