If you have been dreaming of spending a few days at a quintessential Tuscan villa surrounded by rolling hills lined with vineyards, cypress trees and olive groves, you will want to consider this gracious country estate. Less than 10 miles from San Gimignano and only slightly farther from Siena, it occupies a quiet hilltop with views stretching as far as the eye can see. Right next door is a 750-year-old church filled with frescoes, including a 1947 replica of a 15th-century work destroyed when Allied bombers virtually wiped this area off the map during World War II. The church's ancient roof collapsed under that attack but miraculously, the adjacent villa was unscathed and stands today much as it always has, enclosed within the centuries old garden that makes it a peaceful retreat any time of the year. The heated pools for adults and children make it possible to enjoy a swim almost all year, and you will love relaxing in the sun, taking a walk through the chestnut woods or jogging along the 2-km gravel path that traverses some neighboring vineyards. On colder winter evenings, nestle up by the fireplace with a glass of Chianti from the villa's extensive wine cellar. Afterwards, enjoy a typical Tuscan meal in the beautifully decorated restaurant, which moves out by the pool in warmer months. It is also here that you'll start your day with a delicious breakfast featuring organic local products, homemade pastries and made-to-order eggs.

There are 38 rooms at the villa, located on three floors all reached by elevator. Each is unique, but all are furnished comfortably, either with romantic queen-sized canopy beds or wrought-iron twin beds. Many of the rooms offer wonderful views across the grounds to the hills beyond. Each has direct-dial telephone, air conditioning, heating, satellite TV and large screened windows. Some have wireless Internet access (or you can use the Internet point in the lobby with their computer or your laptop). The bathrooms are all en suite and offer a hair dryer plus either a stall shower (in standard rooms) or a bathtub with wall shower (in superior rooms and junior suites). The 8 Family Rooms offer two full-sized beds and a bathroom with whirlpool bathtub. They are suitable for two adults and two children, or three adults. The two Junior Suites are romantic hideaways for couples: each has a queen canopy bed and a sitting area.
