Rome Terrace Apartment

This stunning and elegant apartment not only offers a superb location only 400 yards from Rome Terrace Apartment and the Tiber River, but also a great opportunity to see how upper-class Romans live. Located on the third floor of a gracious elevator building surrounded by gardens and trees - even the beautiful palms that surprise so many first-time travelers to Rome - it has all the comforts of home plus the ineffable charm of a haven that has been decorated with fine taste and loving care.

The apartment has a delightful living room, which seems even more spacious thanks to French doors that open onto the balcony. The furnishings are almost all beautiful antiques from the 18th and 19th centuries, including the dining table and six chairs. Next door are the dining room and kitchenette, which features a full fridge/freezer, oven and burners, toaster, coffee pot and plenty of dishes, pots and pans.

The sleeping quarters here include two double bedrooms (one with two single beds and one with a double bed). A single bed can be added in the living room. Both bedrooms have a solid wall of windows (not over the street!), a large antique dresser and a large wardrobe; one also has a desk. There are two large floor fans for the bedrooms. More wardrobes line the hall, and between the bedrooms is a bathroom with bathtub, shower and washing machine. Everywhere the walls are lined with framed prints and paintings.

In the warmer months, which in Rome means April through October, you are sure to find yourselves dining on the balcony, which measures 6X10 feet and is furnished with a table and chairs, and shaded by palm fronds. It overlooks the quiet garden, but just outside the building is a lively neighborhood filled with great food shops, a supermarket, "real-people" boutiques, restaurants and cafes. St. Peter's Square is right around the corner, and the historical center is only two short bus stops away.
