Casa Ravello
|
Elegant and aristocratic, Ravello sits on a rocky spur, high above the Amalfi Coast. Magnificent palazzos, churches and gardens attest to its noble past, which lives on in today's rich cultural life, complemented by a striking, unmatched natural beauty. One of the best places from which to observe the world-famed vistas offered by this tiny hilltop town is from the town's two main squares (both within five minutes' walk of this building) or from the many town gardens that are open to the public. During the summer months, twilight Wagner concerts are performed in one of these gardens.
Located in an ancient palazzo near the top of the beehive that is Ravello, this comfortable apartment is actually accessed through its terrace, which offers a breathtaking view of the local coastline, all the way from Amalfi to the deep-green Cilento Peninsula. Although our building dates back to medieval times, it was recently restored, and the first-floor apartment (up 20 steps from the street) has been furnished with a mixture of nice antiques and comfy new pieces. Thanks to its vaulted ceilings, big windows and French doors, sunlight illuminates all the rooms. Off the terrace is the living/dining room with working fireplace, sofas, a desk, a dining table, TV, CD player and telephone. This room connects to the small kitchen, which is equipped with four burners, oven, microwave, and full freezer/fridge. Also on this side of the apartment is a service bathroom with sink, toilet and washing machine.
Across the living room is the spacious master bedroom with wardrobe, chest of drawers and two armchairs, as well as an en suite bathroom with tub. A door from the bedroom opens onto a small veranda that overlooks an ancient church. Next door is the twin bedroom, which overlooks a quiet pedestrian street.
