If you dream of being right at the center of Florence, with picture postcard close-up views of the Duomo and the Baptistry from your windows, one of these 12 apartments could be the best choice for you. Occupying a patrician palazzo on the corner of the piazza, the beautifully decorated units are spread out over six floors reached by elevator. On the ground floor is a reception desk manned from noon till 8pm every day except Sunday. At other times, you can open the front door from upstairs, after looking at the visitor through your video doorbell.
There are three types of apartments in this building: one-bedroom, one-bathroom units; two-bedroom, two-bathroom units; and one very special three-bedroom, two-bathroom penthouse. All are furnished with top quality wooden antiques, elegant silk and brocade fabrics, double sleep sofa in the living room, and ultra-modern kitchens with full fridge, oven, cooktop, dishwasher, US coffeemaker (on-request) and toaster. Amenities include independent air conditioning and heating, satellite TV, wall safe, telephone in every living room and bedroom, wireless Internet access, generous closets and wardrobes, good lighting and hair dryers in all the bathrooms, daily cleaning and twice-weekly bath linen change. One-bedroom apartments have a queen bed (no twins) in the bedroom; the other apartments have one queen bedroom and one twin/queen bedroom.
Regardless of what floor they are on, you will have great views from almost every window in this building (the windows on the top floors have great views but they are small). Several of the units have soaring frescoed ceilings in the vast bedrooms or living room. First-floor apartments have balconies facing the Duomo itself. The bathrooms are all ultra-modern, and many have big showers with elegant drapes instead of a curtain. A high lip around the rim keeps water from splashing into the bathroom.
On the top floor, the Penthouse must surely be unique. Sunny and spacious, it has a single sleep sofa in the living room and thus is suitable for two couples and two singles, or one couple and four singles, or two couples and three children. A large living room features a settee, the sofa, armchairs and table for 8; a separate eat-in kitchen offers a full fridge, dishwasher, oven, cooktop and washing machine. A hall lined with closets leads to a marble bathroom with an oversized glass shower, next to a small bedroom with French bed and low ceiling (suitable for one adult or two small children). At the end of the hall are a bedroom with king bed and views of the Duomo from the bed, a room with twin beds or queen bed and views from all three windows, and a hall bathroom with whirlpool bathtub and separate shower. This very comfortable apartment is completed by a large furnished terrace facing the Baptistry and the Medici Chapels, as well as a small balcony with table and chairs, so close to the Duomo that you feel you can reach out and touch it.
