Rome Santi Apostoli Terrace Apartment 's Guestbook

Dear Kirill,

We had a great trip to Italy, and as in the past, your help and recommendations proved very useful. This year, we rented the Santi Apostoli apartment in Rome from you, and also booked the airport shuttle service from Fiumicino to the apartment through your website. Below are our reports on both.

We were very happy with the Santi Apostoli apartment. The location was great--10-15 minutes walk to the Trevi Fountain, the Forum, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Campo dei Fiori, Spanish Steps. We were pleasantly surprised that the Piazza Santi Apostoli was an attractive and relatively quiet square with at least two good restaurants and a couple of banks with ATM’s. We were even more pleasantly surprised to discover that the apartment was located in a historic building which is mentioned in our Michelin Green Guide.

The apartment was quiet, on the third floor (US fourth floor) with an elevator. Kitchen and bathroom were well equipped, and the bed was very comfortable. Several other apartments in the building were in the process of renovation, and once they are all occupied, the elevator may not be as available as it was for us, but we rarely had to wait longer than a minute or two for it to arrive. The workmen didn’t start until after 8 am and we were never awakened by noise. Later in the day we occasionally heard some, but not enough to be a nuisance.

There were a few minor problems with the apartment (dead battery in one room’s a/c remote, broken towel hook in the bathroom, occasional running toilet that made it impossible to flush again for a long time). The washer worked fine, but there was no iron or ironing board. We mentioned these issues in a note we left for the host when we vacated the apartment. None of them were things that needed to be dealt with immediately, and none significantly diminished our enjoyment of the apartment. We got the feeling that the apartment had not been occupied much before our visit, so the host may not have been aware of the problems. Despite them, we liked the apartment and would gladly stay there again in the future, but it would be good if you could follow up to make sure our comments were acted on.

The day before departure we called the host to confirm the procedure for vacating the apartment, and she agreed to order a taxi for us. The taxi arrived promptly the following day, and leaving the apartment went very smoothly.

We were not, however, happy with the shuttle service from Fiumicino, as the airport was unusually crowded when we arrived, and it was difficult to find our driver. After finding him, we had to wait at least a half an hour for the other parties to show up, and then walk quite a distance to the van. In the future, we will opt to pay more for the convenience of a private transfer.
