Tuscan Seaside Apartments' Guestbook

Back to Tuscan Seaside Apartments

Dear Jessica,

We did have a great trip. We booked our apartment in VADA, Italy.

Tuscan Seaside supplied a 2 -edroom apartment with all the normal furnishing that we would expect. It was about 1 block from the sea and had umbrella and chair rental. There were both good things and not so good things. They are in the process of building a new swimming pool and remodeling the location totally. Not sure if they plan on keeping it as stark as it was. Our room was very clean and the people were very nice to us. This area of Italy does not have many Americans, so English is hard to come by. We did a lot of pointing but we got by. Most people were Italian and Germans with very small children. They recommended two great restaurants. La baracchina in Castiglioncello, Italy was right on the sea. The menu was very small but had excellent seafood prepared excellently. The one in Cecina, Italy was the best Tuscan meat meal we could have ever imaged. I believe the name of the restaurant was Ristoenoteca Coccolino.

We rented a car from AutoEurope. Picked it up in Rome and drove to Vada (about 3.5 hours). Make sure you get a GPS - I do not know what we would have done without it. From Vada, we took a different trip every day. We went to a winery (Rocco delle Macie, Grosseto, Italy), Pisa, Florence and Cinque Terre. None of these trips were more than a two-hour drive. The Sunflowers were totally in bloom and it was gorgeous to see that. It was miles and miles of yellow.

The trip had so many unique things and we enjoyed it greatly. If you want to be a pampered American, I would not venture into the Vada, Livorno area. But it sure was a way of seeing how the Italians enjoy their summer.

Thanks for the opportunity to share.
Barbara R.
