The Chianti is one of the loveliest little patches of this earth, and what better way to get to know it than by staying right at its heart and biking along its enchanting dirt roads on your own (with the help of detailed route maps, of course!)? This 3-night program includes a day of biking and a day of wine tasting. You keep costs way down by having your own car, or choose the chauffeured version that includes transfers to and from Florence (details at the bottom of the itinerary).

Day One

• Arrive in Castellina in Chianti, a quaint village located 18 km from Siena. Settle into your standard double room with private bathroom at historic Hotel Palazzo Squarcialupi, a 3***-hotel in the heart of town.
• Dinner tonight is at a typical Tuscan restaurant located in the centre of Castellina in Chianti. You will enjoy three full courses, drinks included.
• Overnight at the hotel.

Day Two

• Start the day right with an American buffet breakfast at the hotel.
• In the morning you will meet your local representative, who will give you your mountain bikes and route maps.
• Now you are off on a memorable full-day self-guided biking tour among the beautiful Chianti hills. You will glide past the world-famous vineyards, exert your muscles on the renowned hills, and pause for lunch on your own in any one of many tiny ancient hamlets, some inhabited by only a score of families.
• In the afternoon you’ll return to Castellina and drop your bikes off at the local Tourist Office, very near the hotel.
• Dinner on your own. The folks at the hotel will be happy to tell you about the places where the locals go to eat, be it in town or in the country.
• Overnight at the hotel.

Day Three

• American buffet breakfast at the hotel.
• After having become familiar with the landscape, you will now discover its greatest treasure: the wines of the Chianti! In your own car, you’ll head first for a spectacular medieval castle outside Radda in Chianti. At 11:00 a.m. you’re scheduled for a visit of the cellar and the olive press, followed by a tasting of three wines, accompanied by typical Tuscan snacks.
• Lunch on your own in Radda or at a country restaurant.
• At 4:00 p.m., you’ll be expected at a farm winery near Castellina, where you’ll visit the property and the cellars followed by a tasting of three wines with Tuscan snacks.
• Return to the hotel.
• If you’re still hungry, dinner is on your own.
• Overnight at the hotel.

Day Four

• American buffet breakfast at the hotel.
• Departure.
