This independent tour package offers a unique way to experience the three gastronomic superstars of Tuscany. We say "unique" because while there are plenty of easy ways to taste wine and olive oil in the region, it's not so simple to participate in a truffle hunt, watching the dog and its master work their way through the tranquil forests until they find their buried treasure, that delectable dirt-colored lump that you will then get to taste along with other Tuscan treats. Keep your own pace on this tour, because you'll drive to all excursions in your own rental car. We will be happy to help you make arrangements for the best price on a rental car -- and don't worry, there is very little traffic on the farm roads, so you will be able to cruise among the hills and dales and vineyards without a care in the world!

Day One
Day One

• Arrive in Empoli, a charming town halfway between Pisa and Florence. Check into your room with private bathroom at Borgo San Giusto. This working farm is a classic example of authentic Tuscan life: no frills or extravagance, just simple good taste, fine craftsmanship, warm hospitality and attention to details. Centuries old, this property was not created for tourists, so it will give you a chance to see how Tuscans really live.
• In the late afternoon, you're invited to a private tasting of the wines and extra virgin olive oils produced by the farm, under the label Fattoria Bini.
• Dinner is served tonight at a nearby Tuscan restaurant, where you'll be treated to plenty of local delicacies!
• Overnight.

Day Two
Day Two

• Breakfast at Borgo San Giusto.
• After a short drive to San Miniato, the capital of Tuscan Truffle Territory, you'll meet your English-speaking escort, who will accompany you on your truffle hunt. You will learn all about one of this region's most famous specialties, the truffle. "What Is a Truffle? How Is a Truffle Found? What Techniques Does a Truffle Expert Use?" After this short introduction, you will venture into the woods with the truffle hunter and his dog, to put your newfound knowledge to the test and find your own little nugget of umber gold!
• Next you will visit a local oil mill and taste some of the products made with truffles.
• Before traveling back to the Borgo, we suggest you take a stroll through historic San Miniato, a classic Renaissance Italian town.
• Dinner on your own and overnight.

Day Three
Day Three

• Breakfast at Borgo San Giusto.
• After bidding your friendly hosts a fond farewell, you'll drive east, past vineyards, rolling hills and verdant valleys, to the Chianti region, where the breathtaking Vicchiomaggio castle is your next destination. You'll be treated to a short tour, followed by a wine tasting and a delicious lunch in the castle.
• In the afternoon, your room at the four-star Relais Villa Il Poggiale Country House awaits you. Drop off your bags and head off down the road to explore the vicinity, which is dotted with farmhouses, castles, and hillsides blanketed in Chianti grapevines.
• Enjoy a stroll in the historic gardens, relax by the pool, or treat yourself to a luxurious spa session before dinner on your own and overnight.

Day Four

• Breakfast at the Relais and departure.
