Hotel Rapallo

In Florence's historic center, near the central Santa Maria Novella Train Station. The Duomo is a fifteen-minute walk away. All the 47 air-conditioned rooms are clean, comfortable and soundproofed, and feature satellite TV and free Wi-Fi access, as well as a modern bathroom with such thoughtful accents as a deep useable washbasin and a built-in retractable washing line over the bath/shower. Hotel Dei Macchiaioli

A very intimate three-year old hotel in a lovely 14th-century building with genuine 17th-century alfresco ceilings. Set in the very heart of Florence, it is a 10-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella Station, and only a short walk from all the main sites, like the Uffizi Gallery and the Duomo (Florence Cathedral). In spite of this, the rooms are very quiet and well insulated from the noise at night.  It's about 30 steps up to the 14 spacious, light and airy guest rooms, which are air conditioned and feature mini bar, satellite TV and Wi-Fi connection. The hotel also offers a reading corner, a TV room and an Internet point. The breakfast buffet, with a selection of both sweet and savory items, is served in the hotel's refined dining room. L'Orologio's sister hotel features a rooftop terrace overlooking the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella and a picturesque newly restored piazza. Just five minutes' walk from the train station, it is also only 10 minutes from both Florence Cathedral and Accademia Gallery. This is an absolutely beautiful hotel with exquisite decoration and a very helpful multilingual staff. Excellent facilities, and breakfast is amazing! The 71 luxurious rooms and suites are large and air conditioned. They come with free Wi-Fi, a mini bar and tea and coffee-making facilities. Just 200 yards from Santa Maria Novella Station, this family-run hotel is in a historic building and has 20 spacious elegant rooms which are comfortable, cool and very clean, featuring  satellite TV and free Wi-Fi, as well as luxurious en-suite bathrooms equipped with tub or shower and hairdryer. Some rooms feature exposed wooden beams on the ceiling. A good idea is to ask for a room on the quiet side of hotel. Hotel degli Orafi

This former 13th-century convent is the actual location of Forster's Room with a View. It sits beside the Uffizi Gallery, facing Ponte Vecchio, with spectacular views of the cathedral from the roof garden and bar. Despite the extremely central location, the 42 large, elegant guest rooms are quiet and tranquil, with exposed wooden beams on the ceilings and carpets on the floors. Each room comes with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels.
