Museum of Roman Ships

A permanent exhibit of merchant ships that were found near the ancient Harbor of Claudius in the 1960s. The most famous of the ships is the "Fisherman's Boat," considered to be the prototype of the Venetian gondola.

This museum is dedicated to remembering the importance of Via Ostiense (Porta San Paolo), which was a major road connecting Rome and the Trajan harbor. The small museum exhibits relief models of the town of Ostia, the Trajan Harbor, and the "small market."

Named after one of its exquisite stained-glass windows, this house has been converted into a museum to celebrate the beauty of its handcrafted Art-Nouveau stained-glass windows. The house was constructed in 1840; however, the windows were not added until the 1920s.
Open: April 1- September 30: Tuesday- Sunday 9am- 7pm.
October 1- March 31: Tuesday- Sunday 9am- 5pm
Closed on Mondays.

Here you will find a collection of Nicolaus Copernicus' artifacts that was originally assembled to celebrate the 4th centennial of the scientist's birth in 1873. Since then multiple objects and instruments have been added to the collection.
Open in the evening only. Advance reservations by fax are required in order to visit this museum.

Originally founded in 1198 by Pope Innocent III, this hospital and medical school has been turned into a wonderful small museum and library. Here you can see unusual objects that come from an Apothecary-Alchemical Laboratory and Library, such as apothecary pots and cases from the 16th and 17th centuries, as well as antique and modern surgical instruments.

Botanical Garden

Located in the middle of Trastevere, this garden was originally established in 1883 when the Corsini family donated their garden to the Italian Government. Now run by the University of Rome "La Sapienza," it hosts over 3500 species of plants and includes a "Scent-and-Touch" garden that was recently incorporated for those who are visually impaired.

Goethe Memorial House

This is the house that Goethe lived in the second half of the 18th century. Now open to the public, many exhibitions and events that are held here in order to celebrate the life of this amazing poet and the influence that Italy had on him.

This 18th-century building was giving to the Piedmontese sculptor and musician Pietro Canonica in the 1920s by the Municipality of Rome. Here you will see not only the works of this artist but also his apartment that contains beautiful antique furnishings.

De Chirico Memorial House

This museum overlooks the Spanish Steps of Trinità dei Monti and Villa Medici, which inspired De Chirico's works. The museum has been recently carefully renovated to restore the original decorations.

This museum and library hold a very important collection of theatrical masks, costumes, sketches, scripts and other objects related to the theatre. The library also stores over 40,000 books from the 16th century to present day.
