If you're an independent traveler with two days, one day or even only part of a day to see Florence, a great way to get around is the classic red London-style double-decker bus that snakes through the city from Santa Maria Novella station to Piazzale Michelangelo. If you purchase your ticket online, you can board the bus at any of the 15 or so stops spread throughout the city. On board, your hostess will give you disposable earphones for an audio guide in eight languages (Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Japanese and Chinese). The buses follow two routes covering every neighborhood of the historic city; one ticket is valid for 48 hours on both routes, so you can get on and off either bus as much as you want.
All buses are wheelchair accessible.
Tickets become valid when you board the first bus. They cost 22 Euro/adult; 11 Euro/child 5-15 years old; accompanied children 0-4 years old ride free of charge.
