If you're an independent traveler flying into Pisa or landing at Livorno with a cruise, a great way to see the Leaning Tower is the classic red London-style double-decker bus. From Livorno, you can take a quick train ride and board the bus at the Pisa station; for those flying in, the bus makes a stop at the airport too! In town, it covers the entire historic center, from the famous tower, cathedral and baptistery to the fortified walls, the Arno River, the adorable side streets and the town's exquisite Gothic churches. One of the two Hop On-Hop Off buses makes 12 stops in town, while the other bus travels into the country. By purchasing your ticket online, you can board either bus at any stop. On board, your hostess will give you disposable earphones for an audio guide in 8 languages (Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and Russian). Your ticket is valid for 24 hours on both lines, so you can get on and off as much as you want.
All buses are wheelchair accessible.
This service is available April 26-October 31. Tickets become valid when you board the first bus. They cost 15 Euro/adult; 7.5 Euro/child 5-15 years old; accompanied children 0-4 years old ride free of charge.
