Pisa

Hi,

I am not gay, but I am looking for accommodations for a gay couple that are friends of mine and came across your web site. The Royal Victoria Hotel in Pisa, is lovely, and being as the European Gay and Lesbian Conference was held there in 1999 I assume they are gay friendly. I am not gay, so I can't vouch for it on that side, but I did stay there last fall and it was a fabulous hotel. Staff were friendly and the room (the girl at the desk lent me an umbrella when I needed to go out in the rain) I had was huge, with a view of the Arno River and with trompel'oeil painting on the walls, ceiling and furniture (in fact the picture on their web site looks exactly like my room, except that is only a portion of the room, there is another section that was about 10 feet by 30 feet that was a living room, sparsely furnished. The bathroom was about 10' x 10'. Portions of the hotel are 1000 years old. The hotel has just the ambiance that I was looking for.

My favorite gay friendly restaurant in Florence is La Bussola. The food is excellent, from the wood fired regional pizzas to the Tagliata and Florentine Steak. They also have recently opened an enoteca in the back. I have been going there for six years and every trip it is my favorite place to eat.
