We were delighted with Casa Ulive, after a week in Rome, it was a perfect retreat. The house was immaculate and tastefully decorated and the grounds were beautifully landscaped. Gabriella and Alfonso were lovely hosts, they even had pasta, bread and wine waiting for us when we arrived and bottle of local olive oil. The fully equipped kitchen was great and we frequently cooked in the evenings and enjoyed the sunsets from the patio. We were blessed with perfect weather (only one day with light rain). Lucca was very convenient for days trips to Pisa, Florence and the Cinque Terra.
The only drawback was the need for a car to get to Lucca from the villa. The trains are so convenient, inexpensive and efficient in Italy we used them frequently, rather than hassling with driving and parking. It would have been nice to have a way to get to the train station without having to have a rental car.
Also, I forgot to ask Gabriella about the beautiful bed linens. I never saw anything like them in the shops. Do you know where they were purchased?
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Casa Ulive to anyone considering a trip to Tuscany and we would certainly use your service if we were to go to Italy again.
