Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale's Guestbook

Back to Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale

Hi Julie,

The trip was just FANTASTIC!! Thank you so much for the help. The hotel was wonderful and car rental excellent - everything like clockwork. One comment - on your directions from Palermo airport to the hotel (Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale)...you state that the turn off for the hotel is 7 kilometers from the one store - it is actually .7 km! Followed the directions and went WAY past my turnoff and ended up having a wild, hair-raising drive through the suburbs of Palermo...was quite fun as I shouted out the window to cars passing the other direction 'Dove' la autostrade??' Thanks for the fun time but I think others might not appreciate quite so much :o)))

Again, hotel was WONDERFUL, staff immensely friendly and helpful, which was greatly appreciated as I was traveling alone. HIGHLY recommend the hotel to others.

And thank you for your service - I have used you folks numerous times on my trips to Italia and again, you have delivered a quality reliable service.

A piu tardi....
Michele B.

Dear Cynthia,

I had a lovely stay at the hotel Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale. The staff could not have been more helpful and the restaurant was a delight. We were informed by the concierge as soon as we booked in that the air-conditioning was not working and were offered alternative accommodation. We decided that some "British Grit and a Stiff Upper Lip" were called for and decided to stay. We were given room 34 as we requested and were not disappointed.

Downside: It was extremely difficult to find even with your instructions (Suggest future travellers get a comprehensive road map).

Once again, Cynthia, Thank You.

Yours sincerely,
Frank H.

Dear Cynthia,

Just wanted to thank you for our holiday at Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale. The accommodation was excellent and although we transferred out early (air-conditioning break down) the hotel staff could not have been more apologetic or helpful. I will recommend you and this hotel to everyone.

Thank you,
Frank H.

Cynthia,

We loved Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale. This was our first hotel experience in Sicily and we found it most enjoyable. Rooms were spacious and lovely. Hotel staff superb! As we left Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale to tour Sicily, we felt that if our remaining accommodations were half as good we would be happy. Thank you for your assistance.

Dear In Italy,

Were I returning to Palermo, I would stay at Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale again. In fact, we returned to it for three nights after our car tour around Sicily.

It is a gracious, modern hotel with a VERY helpful and accomodating staff. Since we were there at a time when fewer other guests were on the premises, I can say nothing about how it would be in "high" season. My impression is that the walls might be a bit thin. Also, there's a pretty consistently barking dog at a house on the east side, one of those "Attenzione al cane" types. I don't know if HIS purpose can be reconciled with the needs of hotel guests on that side of the building!

The hotel is DEFINITELY hard to find by car, when you're arriving with jet-lag and no previous knowledge of Palermo -- even for someone with years of Italian driving experience! The directions need to be a WHOLE lot better WITH precise landmarks, since the Tangenziale is "stand-still" traffic with lots of trucks and it is impossible to know in advance how to decide what access-road to take. The bus-route to Centro which goes right by the Hotel is a real "plus". Finally, anyone leaving the Hotel for the airport needs to seriously consider allowing plenty of time -- the tangenziale again!

The Restaurant in Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale is quite good -- especially the seafood. The wait-staff are helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable.

Dear In Italy,

Thank you for your note. Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale was delightful! The pictures on your web site do not do it justice. The furnishings and design are topnotch! The only problem was in finding it initially. Fortunately a native italian in a gas station offered to show us the way when we stopped to make inquiry. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent and they even prepared a breakfast pack for us since we had to leave the hotel at 5:00AM to catch an early flight.

All in all we were very pleased with the accommodations and would recomend your service in the future.

Dear In Italy,

Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale was the premier lodging of our 3 week trip to Italy & Sicily! I still can't believe how inexpensive it was (about $100 per night, & it felt like it should have been 3 times that much...of course if it had, we would not have stayed there!). Delightful in every way...service, friendly staff, great food, and general ambience. It is off the beaten path, and if we had not had our own car, that would have been a negative. The mosaics in the church at Monreale were sure worth the visit (very near to Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale). Oh, thank goodness Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale has those nice little bright yellow signs to help travelers find the hotel...we never would have found it without them!!!

Thanks, Lindsay Parks

Sarah,

In response to your welcome home, I can tell you that we were very pleased with Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale. The hotel was lovely, the staff most helpful and all in all it was a very fine experience. As with many things in Sicily, finding it was a bit of a challenge, but it served as a very fine alternative to being in Palermo which is truly a dreadful city. I would suggest that anyone booking into the Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale ask the hotel for very specific directions when arriving by auto. The printed directions provided in the material furnished by the hotel are of little help. Getting to the hotel from the airport outside of Palermo would have been made much easier with more detailed directions. Thanks for asking.

Dear In Italy,

The hotel was great, including service, meals, and decor. The location however was not the best as it is situated in a rather run-down area of suburban Palermo. I was amazed at the location of the hotel in that it was the nicest building for miles around.

I would also recommend that hotel driving directions be updated as that it is very confusing getting to the hotel for the first time - particularly navigating the challenging (crazy) traffic of Palermo. Restaurant choice by far: La Botte in Monreale.

Thanks, Kirill,

I appreciate your email waiting for me upon my return. The Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale was lovely; rooms were spacious and sparkling clean; the location, from a view standpoint, was spectacular. Most of the rooms have wonderful views over the valley or up to Monreale - we, although we had requested a view, were put in rooms near the driveway to their reserve parking area. It was unfortunate and we could not convine them to change our rooms to ones with views. The staff, otherwise, was great, especially in the restaurant, where the food was also very good.

We probably saw all the 'usual' sites while there, but would especially recommend Sugesta for Greek and Roman ruins, Erice as a medieval hilltop town, the cathedral in Monreale for its splendid mosaics and hair-raising tour of the cathedral's roof, and Palermo (if you can stand the noise, dirt and pollution) for the Palazzo Normano.

Best,
Richard U.

Dear Kristin

The Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale was great--very beautiful and a *very* pleasant staff. One night we ate in the hotel and there was an anniversary party going on; the chef had beautifully prepared some enormous fish (likely swordfish), and they brought us some too!

Dear Julie,

The trip was great. The hotel is very nice; although hard to find; A map in the literature would be extremely, extremely helpful. The air conditioning needs to be kept on all night; the food was very good; and the staff is desirous to help in any detail.

Strong recommendation of the Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale.

As to the sites; Monreale is out of a picture book; driving to Trapani was great; however Erice is the place to go (a time warp to the 13th century). If you drive (highly recommend) allow plenty of time to get there and be careful what street you drive on in Erice; you may find yourself backing up 5 blocks in a street that is 6 feet wide and only one car fits.

Hope I can encourage people to stay at Monreale at the Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale (technically it is in southern Palermo). Thank you for your help.

Dennis & Chris F.

Dear Ms. Knight,

Regarding our stay at the Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale. We found the hotel very beautiful and very comfortable to stay in. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the staff at both the hotel and the restaurant were very pleasant and helped us in any way they could. Although the hotel is about 3 km from the center of the city, there is a bus that stops right in front of the hotel and runs very frequently so that you are in Palermo in about 15 mins.

I must comment on the fact that we found Palermo very disappointing because of the dirt and garbage all over the streets and the sidewalks. I didn't expect it to be so run down and seedy looking and I cannot recommend it. My advise would be if you must fly into Palermo, stay at the Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale where it is both beautiful and quiet and leave for the rest of Sicily which is very very beautiful as soon as possible.

Sincerly,
Carl & Regina A.

Dear Cynthia:

Thank you for your message awaiting me on my return from Sicily. We had a terrible time finding the Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale. I know this was a last minute reservation but your dirctions were not detailed enough to prevent us from driving many miles into the valley before turing around and approaching Monreale from the west. We finally made it after much help from locals who had a general idea where it was. Once there, we relaxed and loved it. The bus to Palermo was very easy and made the use of a car in that teeming city totally unnecessary--and, of course, the magnificent Monreale cathedral was close by (although not within walking distance). For an off-the-beaten-path adventure I would definitely recommend a trip to the island of Motya south of Trapani on the road to Marsala. Small boats leave for the island regularly although finding them can be a bit of a challenge. It is an 8th century B.C. settlement of the Phoenicians with wonderful excavations, Greek artifacts, and beautiful sculptures. One caution--there are two "ma and pa" outfits that run boats to the islands. They leave from two different parking areas (about a mile apart)so make sure you go out and back with the same outfit or you may return a long way from your car. That happened to us and the owner, realizing our plight, drove us back to our car in the lot run by his competition. Motya and Segesta were our two favorite places not only because of what there is to see but because you have them all to yourselves. Many thanks for all your help.

Sincerely,
Robin C.

Dear In Italy,

Sicily was wonderful. the people were incredibly friendly, the food fantastic and the sights plentiful and spectacular. the driving...well, that was a little frenetic and frustrating.

The Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale was superb. the hotel was beautifully furnished. we stayed the first two nights in room 11 which was one of the largest rooms but didn't have a great view (if at all). the last night we stayed in room 34 which we preferred. it had a lovely view. both rooms had king size beds, were large with spacious bathrooms. we had our laundry sent out and it came back clean and pressed.

The staff were wonderful - very friendly and accommodating. they had no problem with us leaving one of our bags with the hotel while we traveled around sicily.

We took the bus into town (palermo) during the day which was great, but we took a taxi home late one night. that was a bit of a hassle b/c the taxi drivers in palermo don't know where the Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale is, and it was expensive. so, we felt a little bit stranded at night. however, if we had only known how fabulous the food was at the Baglio Siciliano Di Monreale's restaurant, we would have eaten there every night! we had a wonderful dinner on our last evening - one of the best we had - smoked swordfish and tuna, spinach salad, grilled swordfish and artichoke risotto. the restaurant should certainly be praised and promoted in the literature. i would definitely stay there again. i highly recommend the hotel and will direct people to your website for assistance. your recommendation was accurate and i only wish we could have stayed at other places in sicily based on your accommodation suggestions.
