Location: In Cadenabbia, just north of Tremezzo on the spur where the lake widens on its way northward to the Alps. Unparalleled views of Bellagio and Varenna, and all up and down the lake. Click here to see a map.         Public transportation: From Milan, you can take a train to Como, then step outside and get a bus that stops right in front of the hotel. After you have disengaged from your luggage, it's an 800-yard walk to the lake steamers that stop in all the main villages. If you are arriving from Malpensa, a bus goes to Como several times a day and connects with the lakeside bus.         Rooms: 197 on four floors, including singles, doubles, triples and quads. Floors are covered with parquet, marble or wall-to-wall carpet. Some rooms face the world-famous historical gardens of Villa Carlotta, and the hotel's own 2.5-acre English garden. These rooms are quieter than those facing the lake, and since the hotel offers so many comfortable salons, terraces, belvederes and corners with unbeatable views, it is not really a hardship to economize on a standard room here. Rooms that face the lake either have a picture window or a small balcony with two chairs and a table. We recommend you request a higher floor for these rooms. Quad rooms are very spacious.         Features: Air conditioning, double-glazed windows, color satellite TV, direct-dial telephone with high-speed DSL connection, safe, and mini-bar.
