Florentine Palazzo

There's only one place in Florence where you can get a better view than here: the top of Giotto's belltower. But this brand new elegant townhouse hotel has two distinct advantages: state-of-the-art guestrooms and an elevator! Occupying the top two floors of a 100% authentic Renaissance building on the banks of the Arno, it is right in the heart of the shopping district and only a few minutes walk from all the major sites. Sure, there are other hotels with those features, but none of them can boast a huge panoramic terrace set high above the rooftops of the city, which sweeping views that go all the way from the hills to the Cathedral, capturing all of the ancient city at a glance. Even blasé native Florentines catch their breath when they see this sight, and we're positive you will too.

Location: At the corner of Via Tornabuoni and the river. All the designer shops are within five blocks, the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio are a five-minute walk away, and nothing in central Florence is more than an easy 20-minute stroll. Click here to see a map.

Rooms: Only 12! Many of the rooms have views of the Duomo and some also view the river. Most superiors have balconies with tables and chairs. There are two standard triples, but they are fairly cramped so we recommend the superior triple rooms. All the rooms feature very nice furnishings, brand new wall-to-wall carpet, and big windows. Since they are on the 5th and 6th floors, the sound of traffic is very muted even with the windows open. No smoking rooms are available.

Features: Every room has direct-dial telephone with modem hook-up, electronic safe, air conditioning, satellite TV, luggage rack, and mini-bar, plus an electric teakettle and cups in case you'd like to have afternoon tea or breakfast in your room. The bathrooms feature courtesy sets, hair dryer, magnifying mirrors, and stall shower or bathtub with curtain.

Facilities: Elevator. Breakfast can be taken on the roof or in your room. It is not convenient to stay at this hotel with a car, but parking is available nearby for about 26 Euro/night. It is not possible to check-in at the hotel the first time after 8pm.
