Florentine Palazzo

City-Center Lodgings - Historic Residence - Romantic Lodgings

Character: Superb spacious rooms on the classiest corner in Florence, with unforgettable 360-degree views from the roof terrace.
Advantages: The best location in town; deluxe rooms are as luxurious as any in Florence, yet cost much less.
Location: At the corner of Via Tornabuoni and the Arno River. All the designer shops are within five blocks, the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio are a five-minute walk away, and nothing in central Florence is more than an easy 20-minute stroll. Click here to see a map.
There's only one place in Florence where you can get a better view than here: the top of Giotto's belltower. But this brand new elegant townhouse hotel has two distinct advantages: state-of-the-art guestrooms and an elevator! Occupying the top two floors of a 100% authentic Renaissance building on the banks of the Arno, it is right in the heart of the shopping district and only a few minutes walk from all the major sites. Sure, there are other hotels with those features, but none of them can boast a huge panoramic terrace set high above the rooftops of the city, which sweeping views that go all the way from the hills to the Cathedral, capturing all the ancient city at a glance. Even blasé native Florentines catch their breath when they see this sight, and we're positive you will too. You can choose to stay in the more traditional Tornabuoni Wing or the brand new, ultra-elegant Arno Wing whose rooms feature spectacular river views.

Rooms: 12 in the Tornabuoni Wing and 5 in the Arno Wing. Many of the rooms have views of the Duomo; most in the Arno Wing also view the river. In the Tornabuoni Wing, most superiors have balconies with tables and chairs. There are two standard triples, but they are fairly cramped so we recommend the superior triple rooms. All the rooms feature very nice furnishings, brand new wall-to-wall carpet, and big windows. Since they are on the 5th and 6th floors, the sound of traffic is very muted even with the windows open. Furnishings in the Arno Wing are extremely elegant and classic, with parquet floors, Oriental carpets, handmade tapestries and tasteful accessories. Clearly, a concerted effort has been made to give the feeling of staying in an aristocratic Florentine home. Two deluxe rooms offer Arno views while the third faces the Remaissance palazzos of Via Tornabuoni. The Junior Suite, which offers views on Via Tornabuoni as well as the river, has a bedroom with canopy king bed and sofa, an arch to a romantic whirlpool tub and sink, plus a marble bathroom with stall shower. There are two suites. One has a bedroom with king bed and bathroom with stall shower, plus a single bedroom with bathroom with tub. This can be joined to a deluxe room for a total of 5 people. The other suite has an antechamber with a wonderful ship's bed for one person, a huge bedroom with canopy king bed and settee, a bathroom with tub, and spacious private terrace overlooking the river. Non-smoking rooms are available.

Features: Every room has direct-dial telephone, wireless Internet access, electronic safe, air conditioning, satellite TV, luggage rack, and mini-bar, plus an electric teakettle and cups in case you'd like to have afternoon tea or breakfast in your room. The bathrooms feature courtesy sets, hair dryer, magnifying mirrors, and stall shower or bathtub with curtain. In the Arno Wing, the exquisite marble bathrooms are superbly appointed.

Facilities: Elevator. Breakfast can be taken on the roof or in your room. It is not convenient to stay at this hotel with a car, but parking is available nearby for about 26 Euro/night. It is not possible to check-in at the hotel the first time after 8pm.
