There has been a hotel in Florence by this name for centuries. After all, the lily (il giglio) is the city symbol! Recently, the establishment was purchased and restored to meet the needs of travelers who like comfort but don't want to rob the bank to pay for it.

Location: In Via Cavour, between Piazza San Marco and Piazza della Liberta'. Easily accessible by car, or by bus to either of the abovementioned squares. However, remember that in Florence you rarely need to use transportation, except when you're carrying heavy bags! Taxi fare from the station is 10-15 Euro. Click here to see a map.   Rooms: 22, all on the first floor (2nd US). One pretty double for single use has a fullsize bed; three roomy junior suites with couch, coffee table and double bed, and a nice triple with three single beds or one double and one single bed. Rooms 6 and 7 are side-by-side double rooms with matching balconies. There are also two quad rooms with one double bed and two single beds.   Features: All the rooms are comfortably furnished with new mattresses and parquet floors. All have air conditioning, direct-dial phone with modem hook-up, wireless Internet connection on request, satellite TV, safe, air conditioning and mini-bar. All bathrooms have courtesy sets, hair dryer and stall shower or bathtub with glass partition.   Facilities: Elevator (but there are 6 steps up to the elevator, which is big enough only for a folded wheelchair), Internet point in lobby, bar and paid parking nearby.
