Grand Hotel Verdi

Classic Fine Hotels - City-Center Lodgings - Romantic Lodgings

Character: Classy four-star hotel in the center of Milan.
Advantages: Huge rooms and top-of-the-line furnishings would make this a great pick even if it weren't right in the heart of downtown Milan.
Location: On Via Melchiorre Gioia, in the heart of the city, between the Central Rail Station and Garibaldi Rail Station. You really can walk to just about everything, or take the nearby subway. Click here to see a map.
Whether or not you are planning to attend the great La Scala Opera Theatre whilst in Milan, you will still enjoy this hotel's recurring theme, which is an homage to the great composer Giuseppe Verdi and his art. The brand new interiors represent the very best in modern Italian design, but the clean lines are enlivened by such playful touches as side tables shaped like musical notes, or wall plaques that mimic musical instruments. You will even encounter Mr. Verdi himself in a quiet corner of the lobby, half-hidden behind a luxuriant red drape as he pens an aria. More beautiful faux decorations grace the cocktail bar and the breakfast room, as well as the Soprano Restaurant (named after the female singer, not the American family!).
