After years of searching in vain, we are so pleased to have finally found an excellent 4-star hotel that is an easy five minutes' drive from Fiumicino/Leonardo da Vinci Airport. You may only need a place to sleep for one night, but when you put so much effort into planning the Perfect Vacation, why would you want to start or end it on a sour note? This brand-new hotel takes care of every detail that goes into making your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible: for instance, every room has DSL access, and there's a huge outdoor swimming pool in case you get here before dinnertime! And to make things even less stressful, if you think you won't be up to driving the minute you hit the ground in Italy, you can take the shuttle to the hotel, then pick up your rental car in the morning at an agency right down the street.

Location: In the town of Fiumicino, 3 km and 5 minutes from the airport. Fiumicino is a tiny town with a huge marina where all of Rome's glitterati keep their yachts, so it has some great shopping as well as a dozen or so truly gourmet fish restaurants. Click here to view a map.   Public transportation: There are buses between Rome and Fiumicino, but the easiest way to get there is using the hotel's complimentary shuttle to/from the airport, where you can connect to/from the airport train.   Rooms: 187, all brand new in 2004 and including doubles and triples. There are some quads and connecting rooms for families. Beds are excellent, either twin size or king size; there is plenty of closet and drawer space, and each room has a big desk with Internet connection, as well as a great bathroom with bathtub/shower. Many rooms have a balcony and all rooms are non-smoking.   Features: Soundproofing, air conditioning, mini-bar, satellite TV with CNN, ESPN and HBO, pay-per-view movies, direct-dial telephone with DSL line, alarm clock, iron and ironing board, safe large enough to hold a laptop, hair dryer, good toiletry set (and if you forgot anything such as your razor or toothpaste, they'll be happy to supply it).   Facilities: Elevator, first-class hot and cold buffet breakfast starts at 6:30 a.m., Two computers in the library and Wi-Fi in all public areas, fantastic fitness center, very large outdoor swimming pool, laundry room, unlimited free parking. Shuttle to Fiumicino/Leonardo da Vinci Airport from 7:15 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. There is also free shuttle service to the beach in summertime. Shuttle services must be booked in advance.   Restaurant: 4-star gourmet restaurant and sushi bar, at reasonable prices.
