Once upon a time (a year ago!), there was a charming young woman who lived in a large apartment in downtown Florence. The many rooms opened onto a secluded garden where her black cat loved to play. The young woman soon realized that she did not need all those rooms, and having learned a little English, she decided to renovate one wing of the house into a B&B. The result is a home away from home with a sitting room, three bedrooms with their own bathrooms, and of course, the private garden where guests can come together and decompress after a busy day of sightseeing in the cultural capital of the world.

Location: In Florence at Piazza Beccaria. Walk to everything in 15-20 minutes, plus this is a residential neighborhood so the shops and restaurants are aimed at locals more than tourists. Click here to see a map.                 Public transportation: The A electric bus or normal bus 13 stop one block from the building.                 Rooms: Only three! Rose has a wrought-iron queen bed, a table with whimsical king and queen chairs, and a bathroom with walk-in shower. Wisteria is the same, with an original fresco on the ceiling. Ivy is smaller, and has a double bed suitable for one person. It does not have a bathroom, but when combined with Wisteria, next door, it makes a perfect Family Room for three people.                 Features: Air conditioning and wireless Internet access. Bathrooms have stall showers and hair dryers.                 Facilities: Garden and gazebo; fresh continental breakfast in your room, in the living room or in the garden; public garage parking very nearby for 18 Euro/day.
