Location: On a hilltop in Sant'Agata, 5 minutes' drive from Sorrento. Positano is 30 minutes' drive away. Walk to the nearest restaurant in 20 minutes; there are many more, plus myriad shops, only slightly farther. Click here for a map.
 
Public transportation: There is a bus that goes back and forth from the main square in Sorrento, so you really can stay here without a car if you don't mind adhering to the bus schedule. From Sorrento you can reach all points in the area by train, bus or boat. Another bus that stops nearby goes the opposite direction, to Amalfi.
 
Rooms: Only a handful.Each is big enough for four people and has its own patio or balcony with sea views. Floors are parquet or terracotta, many ceilings have wood beams, and the furniture is a mixture of Italian contemporary and local antiques. Non-smoking rooms are available.
 
Features: Air conditioning, mini bar, satellite TV, window screens. Each room has a private bathroom with stall shower, hair dryer and courtesy set. The junior suite has a whirlpool bathtub.
