Dear InItaly,
Our trip to Italy on April 19-29 was marvelous. Thanks to InItaly for all the great accomodations you provided. I will admit I was a little nervous having made all our accomodations through you but every place was wonderful, ready for us, and with all the paperwork in agreement. We would love to return to any and all of the accomodations you recommended.
Before we went I read your comments on the Castello B&B in Venice and many people seemed to get lost trying to find it on foot. I would say that the easiest way to arrive is definitely via private water taxi as it took us right to the steps in front of the Palazzo. Couldn't be easier. Nicola and Antonio were very nice and eager to make any arrangements we needed. Also, we very much appreciated its location outside of the hubbub of St. Mark's Square. We enjoyed the Castello neighborhood and seeing real Italians living and shopping in their neighborhood.
All the accomodations were very nice and all very different which was interesting. The one place that definitely surprised us was the Hotel Tiferno in Citta di Castello. Your description called it a "tiny, off-the-beaten track town". It was very much larger and busier than I expected from that description and the weekend we were there coincided with a national soccer tournament of some kind so the place was really bustling (in a pleasant way). Also, the rooms were larger and more luxurious than anywhere else and the public space was like an art gallery. We would like to go back there again some day. FYI, in your description you need to give better directions on how to find the hotel. We had to park outside the city gates and walk around until we found it inside the gates.
Also, a word on AutoEurope and Avis. Thanks to Patrick Cooper for arranging the car rental. It was ready and waiting and it was an automatic as requested. (I half expected to be told there were no automatics available.) In fact, we were given a new Mercedes Benz with only 180 KM on it. It was beautiful and comfortable.
Thanks again for all your help. I can't wait to use your help again.
Sue M.
Hi Jessica,
Hotel Tiferno was marvelous. Location, breakfast, hotel style/decor were all top class. Our room was a little sparse but perfectly OK. But the real treasure was the staff - wonderfully helpful and cheerful - we were made to feel very welcome. I wish I could remember their names but someone needs to tell the lady at the front desk (manager?) that she is the best.
Regards,
Phil W.
Hello In Italy,
Our trip was overall quite wonderful. We made a few mistakes in our planning, mainly too much driving as we landed in Milan and drove to Portofino, Umbria, Amalfi and Rome.
The Hotel Tiferno in Citta de Costello was very good. Friendly, helpful staff; nice room; good service. No restaurant however but many within walking distance. We enjoyed the little town and surrounding areas. Visited Gubbio which was fascinating.
We would definitely spend more time in Rome and less time on the Autostrada next time which we hope will be soon.
Thank you for all of your help.
Regards,
Pat & Rex D.
