Il Mulino di Montepulciano

This beautifully renovated mill house enjoys a completely secluded location, tucked away behind a rise only a five-minute walk from a classic Tuscan dirt road. Vacationers who seek extraordinary views, total silence and blessed solitude, search no farther because this will become your Tuscan home! The property contains one large house and one smaller house, which are laid out in such a way as to offer comfortable spaces for everyone to be together, as well as other areas for privacy.

Let's start with the smaller house. It has a cozy living/dining room with double sleep sofa, fireplace, table and chairs, an antique stove and a hideaway kitchen (mini-fridge, four-burner range, sink, aluminum counter and cupboards stocked with all the necessary tableware, neatly arranged within an armoire that can be shut to conceal them), a double bedroom and a bathroom with shower.

Next door is the main house which originally contained the miller's wheel that now holds forth in the center of the courtyard. The ground floor measures 1200 square feet and features a large living room with double sleep sofa and satellite TV, dining nook with table for 16, separate kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher and oven, two double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, and a third bathroom off the living room. Upstairs (1000 square feet) is another large living room with fireplace and kitchenette, a separate room with double sleep sofa and big wardrobe, and (on opposite sides of the living room) two double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. All the rooms boast terracotta floors and wood-beamed ceilings, and are furnished with solid wooden antiques. The kitchenettes feature a four-burner range, mini-fridge, kettle, toaster, toaster oven, Italian and American coffeemakers. Bathrooms have showers and hair dryers. All the windows have screens.

Another great feature about this property is its proximity to so many wonderful places. You'll want to make easy day trips to Pienza, Cortona, San Quirico d'Orcia, Montalcino, Siena, or the thermal baths at Bagno Vignoni. Take at least one day to "stray" across the border into Umbria: Perugia is only 35 miles away, and along the route you'll see lovely Città della Pieve and Lake Trasimeno. Florence and Rome are equidistant: only about 80 miles of autostrada, which is a mere ten miles from the property.
