Sicilian Olive Estate's Guestbook

Back to Sicilian Olive Estate

Dear In Italy,

We spent a wonderful 2 nights at Sicilian Olive Estate in February, 2007. The owners Giuseppe and Silvia made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. They both speak English and were helpful in providing us with tourist information of the area. Their villa has been beautifully restored and the guest rooms are spacious and decorated with exquisite taste. We had a four-course Sicilian dinner prepared by Silvia and it was delicious and definitely the best meal we had in Sicily. I am sorry we didn't have more time to tour the olive vineyards. They soon will have internet connection for guests and that will be helpful.

Dear In Italy,

Sylvia and Giuseppe are a very engaging couple, and warm unaffected people. Sylvia is a wonderful cook. Though she says her food is "simple home cooking," we had there the best food we had in Italy. Dinners are superb but the breakfast is a very basic continental one. We were made to feel very at home. Giuseppe is justifiably proud of his olive oil farm and keen to show it off. It is very much a working farm, producing prize winning olive oil. The farmhouse is an old farmhouse, recently restored and tastefully renovated, and very comfortable and spacious.

Dear In Italy,

The food is fabulous - we didn't get out and about much apart from to Agrigento. In October it felt really quiet in this corner of Sicily. It really is a working farm so if you want lots of service and people waiting on you, not the place to go. But I would definitely go again - Silvia's cooking is fantastic! And it was a really great place to meet and talk to other guests. Truly relaxing.

Dear In Italy,

We loved the Sicilian Olive Estate and the warm, friendly hospitality. They went out of their way to accommodate a food allergy, made sure we knew the best route to our next destination, and postponed an appointment to show us the olive farm. This is by far the best place to stay if visiting Agrigento, since the modern towns around the ruins are not the prettiest part of Sicily, the olive farm is lovely. Be aware that the old coast road that parallels the highway is a bit tricky to find and stay on. We could see the property from the main road but had a little initial difficulty finding the entrance to the old road to access the inn. Also, there is no sign, other than the small one on the bell at the gate so don't give up and think you haven't found it because it seems like a private drive. Anyone you ask directions of will know it, including the local goat herd with his flock on the road, who we asked!
