Dear Jessica,
We enjoyed our trip to Rome and Florence very much overall. We were extremely pleased with the apartments we booked through In Italy. In Rome, we stayed at Monti, which is located near the Coliseum and a couple blocks from via Cavour. It is mostly a residential neighborhood, few hotels around. We also booked our airport transfer from the airport to the apartment through In Italy and while expensive, it was excellent - we were literally delivered right to the front entrance of the apartment in a timely fashion (although they had our arrival time wrong and there was no one to meet us - fortunately we both have Italian cell phones and were able to remedy the situation fairly quickly). The apartment itself is spacious, airy, and quite comfortable. Having a toddler, it worked out very well for us and I would highly recommend Monti to anyone with kids. We had coffee and cornetti every morning at a cafe nearby. While we had generally good food nothing was particularly exceptional or memorable. Living in Sicily, and thus not wanting or needing Italian food every meal, we were actually quite happily surprised to come across a Mexican restaurant (Ristorante Mexcico 104) on a little side street off the via Cavour. While the food was excellent and mostly authentic, it was extremely expensive (10 euro for a bowl of chicken tortilla soup, 12 euro for a small plate of beef nachos). We also had a good Chinese meal at a ristorante on via Cavour which was good and reasonably priced (we ended up there because Trattoria Monti, where we had planned to have dinner, was closed for a private wine tasting and we had not called ahead to find this out). We saw all the usual sights in Rome (Vatican museum, St. Peter's, Sistine Chapel, Coliseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, etc). Museums are difficult with a toddler so we kept them to a minimum. I didn't see what was so special about the Spanish Steps but we found a good enoteca nearby for lunch so that made up for it. I will say the Coliseum lit up at night was an awesome, awe-inspiring sight.
All in all, we had a wonderful trip and In Italy was very helpful in planning for it. This trip was the first time we had booked apartments to stay in and it worked out beautifully. I will definitely continue to use In Italy for trip planning.
Thanks,
Carl and Renee B.
Dear Julie,
Just want you to know the Monti apartment was very nice. Even though Rome was somewhat hot during the day at night we were very comfortable in the apartment. We had a marvelous time and even got to see Elton John sing at the Coliseum for free. Thank you for your help and I would use your services again. Your web site was very informative and easy to read.
