This beautiful apartment is located on one of our very favorite streets in Rome. A straight and narrow line, it runs from the Pantheon to the Jewish Ghetto, tracing a path that has been used since the days of the emperors. Of course, back then it was covered by a marble portico to keep out cold rain and hot sun, and it ran through a tiny neighborhood that was dotted with pagan temples such as the one dedicated to the goddess Isis, which is long gone although you can still see remnants of statues in the street. The Pantheon was already there then, showing off its immense and unparalleled dome just as it does today only 200 yards from this door. Imagine the thrill of living in a spot that has been an urban hub for over 2000 years! You can ponder that thought while enjoying a glass of tap-drawn vino rosso at the enoteca across the street, or while delighting to a gourmet meal at the locals' favorite trattoria, La Pigna. Before your meal, be sure to peak into the tiny church next door: it is entirely covered by trompe l'oeil frescoes that make it look like a masterpiece in marble.

Now that you are familiar with your Roman neighborhood, let's introduce you to your home away from home. When you take the elevator to the fourth floor and step into this warm, inviting, air-conditioned retreat, the first thing you're liable to notice is the spectacular wood-beam truss ceilings. The atmosphere they create is perfectly enhanced by the warm ochre walls, the terracotta floors and the wood trim on the windows and doors. A small foyer leads, by way of a doorway trimmed in local peperino stone, to the spacious living/dining room, which is illuminated by two large windows. The handsome staircase in the middle of this room leads up to an ultra-romantic loft furnished with a queen bed and brightened by a handmade stained-glass window. Off this room is a modern tiled bathroom with stall shower. Back on the lower level, the apartment is completed by a sunny kitchen with microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. There is plenty of storage throughout, and street noise is minimal due to the almost total lack of cars, making this an ideal base for a short-term or a long-term stay in Rome.
