When we first saw this air-conditioned apartment, we immediately thought of an eagle's nest. To get here, you walk one block from Piazza Navona, enter an authentic medieval building, climb a 31-step winding stone staircase, open a door, and step into another world, perched above the rooftops and church spires and bell towers of ancient Rome. Unlike the historic building, this apartment is ultra-modern, immaculate and spacious, bright and sunny, just perfect for a family with a teenager. On the lower floor of the duplex, facing away from the street, you will find a single bedroom with its own half bath; on the other side of the landing is a good-sized bedroom with queen bed and a wardrobe, and en suite bathroom with huge stall shower that one could also use as a bathtub, thanks to its high sides.

The second part of this duplex is 17 steps up another spiral staircase. Here you will find a large living/dining room, a well-equipped kitchen with gas range, oven, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and toaster, and a third short staircase up to the private terrace, which truly is at the top of the world. Here, perhaps before you check your email using the DSL connection, you will definitely want to enjoy a meal or two, overlooking the incomparable Roman skyline.
