Roma Elegante's Guestbook

Back to Roma Elegante

Dear Kristin,

We have just returned from Italy and wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed the Roma Elegante apartment. It is in the best location in town -- you can walk to literally everything but the Borghese Galleries, there are dozens of great restaurants of all types within a 5-minute walk, there is a supermarket around the corner, bars, cafes, you name it. The strange thing is that, even though it's right in the heart of everything, the street it's on is off the tourist path so there is never anyone on it! There is even a public garage right across the street (although I'm told it's pricey).

The building is incredible, Kristin. Very upper-class, spotless, all gleaming marble. The elevator must have cost a fortune -- we always took it up and then walked the 36 steps down. The apartment is also spotless. Everything in it is very new and modern, great little kitchenette, small but gorgeous bathroom, tons of storage space, even an outside area where you can hang clothes after you wash them in the machine. The bedrooms are both dead silent, amazing for that area! I suppose if you had little kids it might be a drawback that they are at opposite ends of the apartment, but for anyone with kids over 5, it is truly ideal. Our teenagers loved having the lower floor to themselves and we loved being able to close the door to our suite and have privacy.

The only drawback I can think of here is that the living room is small -- only a love seat and one armchair fit. But we dragged in the chairs from the dining room and we were perfectly fine watching TV or just hanging out. I also wouldn't want to be cooking big elaborate meals in the kitchenette, but it has everything you need for pasta, cold cuts, salad, breakfast, the usual things you have at home. Also, the apartment has many big windows that look out onto a kind of courtyard, very big, so there's plenty of light, but you have no view and you cannot see the sky. We didn't care because we weren't sitting around the apartment trying to see the sky -- we were out seeing ROMA!

Last but definitely not least, the a/c and the DSL worked like a charm. Our 8-day stay was made much better because we could all check email, etc., and cool off when we came in from the heat. We cannot thank you enough for convincing us to stay there. We're already dreaming of returning!

Dear Kirill,

Our trip was wonderful and all three of our accommodations turned out great.

Lerici Seaside Hotel is "the" place to stay in the Cinque Terre area, especially if traveling with children. Much more flexibility than staying in one of the 5 small towns and the beaches were beautiful. The family room with bunk beds was perfect for our family of 4 and we were very lucky to get the room on floor 3 with the extra large patio. That made all the difference in the world and I recommend families seek out the third floor room specifically if possible.

Roma Elegante could not have been in a better location and the apartment was comfortable and full of all the most critical amenities like washer/dryer, big fridge and multiple AC units. Tip – do not drive to it, must take taxi! Recommendation for owner – need to work on the power situation. If washer/dryer were going, nothing else could be or circuit was blown. (Note from In Italy Online: this is absolutely standard in Italy - and most of Europe. Electricity is not as abundant as in the States so you need to ration the number of appliances you use at once).

Fiumicino Airport Hotel – once the remodel is finished this will be a great spot. Pool and patio were beautiful with an excellent restaurant. Perfect for a night stay while going in and out of Rome, otherwise stay in heart of Rome to see the sights.

I have recommended your site broadly based on our experience. The customer service was fantastic and you knocked it out of the park with 3 out of 3 recommendations across Italy. Thank you so much!

Thanks,
Raejeanne S.

Dear Kirill,

We had a fabulous time in Rome. The apartment was just great. Hassan was there to meet us and explain things in the apartment and an overview of the area. The only minor issue was that the furniture in the living room was not very comfortable. Although it was in an old building, the interior was modern and VERY clean.

We did use the airport shuttle, and it took longer to get from the airport that I would have liked – 2 hours, and the driver could not find the apartment. We ended up parking a couple of streets away and walking in. They were able to find the apartment for the return pickup.

The semi private Vatican tour was a highlight. With only 4 people on the tour, we really received the personal touch (although she was half an hour late).

What can I say about the food! It was such a joy to sit outside, relax during the lunch time, and enjoy food and wine. I think we ate gelato everyday. On our last day, we wandered through Trastevere. The church Santa Maria was my favorite, and the area has so many great shops and restaurants. I would recommend people go here.

Thank you for all your help and advice – it was truly a wonderful trip.
