Dear Kristin and Jessica:
Got back just about a week ago and wanted to send you feedback while it is fresh in my mind. First of all thank you for all your help our trip was fabulous!
After Palazzo dei Ciompi, Casa Romana was a surprise. Very different accommodations, but just as wonderful. Casa Romana is spacious, the location is safe and quite central. The apartment was huge. We loved the antiques and the openness of the place. I do need to say that the apartment could have been cleaner. I had to clean the bathroom and kitchen when we got there...they were not gross, but they were not clean like Ciompi. Also, the
beds and pillows were quite awful. The sofa bed in the living room was beyond awful, but my 7 year old did not care. I would be hard pressed to send a group of adults there because of the bed situation, however a family with two children (not too young) would be OK. I think the apartment has too much clutter to look orderly, perhaps the owner (whom we met and had a great chat with) might consider getting rid of the clutter and putting in new beds -- needs to get rid of the bunk beds to attract groups of adults.
The apartment has a fantastic kitchen --huge by European standards and we enjoyed our nightly chats and meals at the kitchen table. At the end, being in the apartment felt like being in a friend's home....it is indeed very homey. But please discreetly recommend to Dr. Guglielmi that he get a new cleaning lady and get new beds. But you know when it came down to it, we had such a great time in Rome and walked so much that at night, even though the beds were so awful, we slept well. My son loved the tiny elevators!
I wish both apartments had had a binder with local information: where to eat, find a grocery store, drug store, etc. Also information about what to do with the trash and recycling, where in the apartment to find a hair dryer, iron, etc. Would save some time.
Thank you and once again we had quite a memorable trip.
Crissy T. P.
