Although these six units are small, they are loaded with history, as their name promises. The building was erected in the 16th century and served originally as an inn for the merchants, bankers and tradesmen who traveled from throughout the world to what was then the center of the commercial universe. It is located on a narrow street in the center of Florence, just enough off-kilter to be away from the tourist masses, yet only a 10-minute walk from the cathedral. The "A" electric bus that completes a very useful tour of the city all day long stops only one block from the door, and there are many shops and eateries in the area, frequented by the real Florentines who inhabit the neighborhood. The setting gives a wonderful opportunity to reside amongst the natives without having to travel great distances to all the sites.

Now, to the apartments! There are six of them, all on the ground floor or first floor reached by a flight of 20 steps. Each has 400-year-old hexagonal tile floors, wood-beamed ceilings and stone walls, and is decorated with pretty country furniture. Every unit has a video doorbell, a bathroom with whirlpool tub or massage shower, a bedroom with a king-size or twin beds, central heating, air conditioning, satellite TV and stereo, and a Carrara marble kitchenette featuring a microwave with grill, a cooktop, US coffeemaker, toaster, dishwasher and mini fridge. Two of the one-bedroom apartments also have a double sleep sofa in the living room. The largest apartment has a big eat-in kitchen with double sleep sofa on the ground floor, 17 steps up to a bedroom with king bed and en suite bathroom with massage shower, plus a bedroom with a queen bed and en suite bathroom with stall shower. One unit also has a small private terrace accessed from the bedroom or the hall and overlooking a quiet inner courtyard. There is a shared coin-op washer and dryer, and wireless Internet access throughout the building.
