Hello Kristin,
Just as a final follow-up. Travel Insurance did send me a check this week for the total cost of the cancelled train trip (union strike) in Italy, earlier in April. It took a few weeks, to be expected. Again, thanks for all you did in putting together a great trip -- including recommending TI for insurance! - Jon L
Hi Cynthia,
I did purchase the travel insurance through your carrier Travel Insured, and I must say how great they were. I faxed them the information sheet, and within 2 days we had the binder back! Excellent service!

Dear In Italy,
Thank you so much. Once again you have been so very helpful. I have purchased travel insurance from Travel Insured for this trip. I had purchased insurance from them at your suggestion last year when we went to Sicily.
You were so very helpful in the planning of that trip as well and it was wonderful. Mare Siciliano and Baglio di Piazza Armerina were beautiful and charming and the hosts were so very kind and friendly. However, your tip about travel insurance turned out to be so very important. Our return flight from Palermo to Milan (Malpensa) was cancelled as were all Alitalia flights to Malpensa due to a strike. We couldn’t get out for four days. Alitalia was treating everyone very badly, their representatives at the airport in Palermo were very belligerent. I called Travel Insured and the very nice young man to whom I spoke called Alitalia in the USA and did a conference call between the three of us. The best he could do was a flight in three days which was better than four and reimbursement for our room and board and carfare. The young man assured us that if Alitalia did not reimburse us for room and board and carfare that Travel Insured would. Although Alitalia did come through with the reimbursement, without his intervention I do not think the situation would have had such an agreeable outcome.
Thanks again.
Best regards,
Sue G.
Dear In Italy,
A few years ago, I escorted a group of 90 people on a cruise trip of a life time. In past years, I never thought about insurance. We were young and what could stop us from going? For some reason when putting this package together, I decided to add mandatory group insurance to the price of the cruise. It was not that expensive, and the trip was over a year away so they had plenty of time to come up with the extra money.
The day of departure was a beautiful day in August. Upon arrival at Boston Logan Airport, we learned our flight was delayed. After waiting for 12 hours, we were told our flight was canceled. Hurricane Charley had shut down Orlando Airport. There was no way for us to get to the ship on time. We were all very disappointed, but several in the group insisted they wanted to chase the ship. So 45 people took a hotel at the airport, and the other 45 opted to go home. The next day we flew to Miami and had to overnight there. The third day we flew to Cancun and chartered a bus to go five and 1/2 hours through jungle to Costa Maya to meet our cruise.
Travel Insured reimbursed all these people for their losses. We were all so very grateful. Along the way we encountered others who did not have insurance and had to pay all these extra expenses without any reimbursement. Some had insurance, but found this was not covered because hurricanes are an Act of God!
Whenever I put a group together now, I always add insurance. When I sell individual clients I strongly urge them to buy insurance. I found Travel Insured has better insurance than most cruise lines offer. My host agency has another preferred insurance company, but I choose to stay with Travel Insured because it was my life saver during HURRICANE CHARLEY. Last year the same group cruised again without incident. It was reassuring to know we were all covered if something came up.
