If you can't figure out how to get the most out of Rome and the Amalfi Coast with the least amount of effort, we have solved that problem for you! This self-guided tour lets you decide the timing while we take care of the organization.

Day One- Rome

  • Check into your double room with private bathroom at a four-star hotel in central Rome.
  • You have the rest of the day on your own, to take your first exploratory walks through the world's most fascinating city. We suggest you start in the Baroque era: it's an easy stroll from the Spanish Steps to Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon and Piazza Navona.
  • Afterwards, dinner on your own. Choose from a vast array of eateries near the beautiful piazza.
  • Overnight at your hotel.

Day Two - Rome
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Today would be a perfect day to visit the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's. Ask us about booking a private or semi-private tour.
  • Afterwards, enjoy lunch on your own, and then we suggest you do a little shopping in the neighborhood. There are literally hundreds of boutiques on Via Leone IV and Via Cola Di Rienzo, ranging from true bargain meccas to the most exclusive high-fashion ateliers.
  • Dinner on your own and overnight at the hotel.

Day Three- Rome
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Now that you are familiar with Renaissance and Baroque Rome, it's time to travel back to ancient times, visiting The Coliseum, the Forum and the Palatine Hill. While in the area, you could also tour Nero's Golden House, as well as Trajan's Market, a fascinating museum that shows what the Forum would have looked like when all its shops were operational, two thousand years ago.
  • Dinner on your own and overnight at the hotel.

Day Four - Rome& Pompeii

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Check-out and transfer on your own to Roma Termini station.
  • Travel by Eurostar train south, passing first by the lush vineyards of Frascati, then into the rugged mountains capped by the Abbey of Montecassino, which is perfectly visible from your window. After this, the train inches west towards the azure coastline, and just before you reach Naples, you'll delight to mile after mile of farms where the luscious Italian tomatoes are produced.
  • Your driver will meet you at Naples station and whisk you off to Pompeii, where you'll have two hours to tour the most famous archeological site on earth. Let us know if you'd like to have a private guide for this fascinating site.
  • After lunch on your own, settle back in your chauffeur-driven car for the ride of a lifetime: the Amalfi Coast! Be sure to have lots of battery time on your camera because you'll want to take advantage of the many turn-outs to take pictures of what many consider the most beautiful seashore on the planet.
  • Thoroughly energized, you'll arrive at your 4-star seaside hotel, where you'll check into your superior double room with private balcony overlooking the sea. If it's warm and time permits, take a dip in the hotel's swimming pool!
  • Dinner is at the hotel's panoramic restaurant.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

Day Five - Amalfi Coast

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • It's a quick 15-minute bus ride to Positano, and we recommend that because parking there is no treat. Hop off at the top of the hill and wend your way down hundreds of steps, passing by people's gardens and rooftops and front windows, right through the heart of this totally unique perpendicular village. At the bottom you'll have trouble resisting the boutiques selling local products as well as the unique casual resort wear that made Positano famous. If it's warm, bring your bathing suit, take a dip in the Mediterranean and then have a phenomenal seafood lunch at one of the cafes fronting the beach. Afterwards, hop on the bus at the bottom of the hill (so clever!) for your ride back to Praiano. Who knows, maybe you'll encounter a bride and groom on their way home from the chapel!
  • In the afternoon, take a very special walk through the streets of upper Praiano. Ask the hotel which steps to climb to reach a neighborhood exactly like Positano, but with no tourists at all. This is the authentic Amalfi Coast and it is well worth seeing.
  • Dinner is on your own at one of the two charming trattorias across the street.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

Day Six - Capri

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • The hotel will provide round-trip transportation to the world-famous Isle of Capri. We suggest you start by taking a boat excursion to the Blue Grotto. You'll never forget the views along the way and inside the shimmering azure cave! The boat will bring you back to Marina Grande, where you can take the funicular up to the hilltop, where the Piazzetta is a great place to have a quick sandwich or gelato before exploring the adorable whitewashed alleys of the town. Do not miss Punta Tragara, the best vantage point for viewing the twin Faraglioni rocks. And if you love walking in the wilderness, take the path that winds along the side of the mountain, as far as you want.
  • Dinner on your own and overnight at the hotel.
