- Arrive in tiny Mestre, a town that looks exactly like Venice without the tourists and is only a few minutes from St. Mark's Square. Check into your double room with private bathroom at a four-star hotel. Architecture buffs will thrill to the glass ceiling that connects the hotel's two wings: it is the largest in Europe!
- After freshening up, hop on the train into Venice and treat yourselves to a slow panoramic ride on the Grand Canal waterbus.
