If are so many wonderful things to see and do in Verona that the entire city has been named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. No wonder it's not always easy to find everything on your own! So if you're an independent traveler with one day or even only part of a day to see Verona, the best way to get around is the classic red London-style double-decker bus. The two Hop On-Hop Off buses make 15 stops, including the train station. Be sure to hop off to see the Roman Amphitheatre and Theatre, both built in the 1st century; elegant Piazza delle Erbe, home of the famous market umbrella; the 14th-century fortified bridge; the 3rd-century Roman gate to the city; the soaring and unforgettable San Zeno Basilica, a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture; the Gothic Scaligero tombs and much more. Whatever you do, don't forget to serenade your sweetheart as she stands on Juliet's Balcony, hidden away in a tiny courtyard looking just as you'd imagine it was when Romeo stood there. Purchase your Hop On-Hop Off ticket online so you can board either bus at any stop. On board, your hostess will give you disposable earphones for an audio guide in 7 languages (Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese and Russian). Your ticket is valid for 24 hours on both routes, so you can get on and off as much as you want.
All buses are wheelchair accessible.
This service is available March 5-October 31. Tickets become valid when you board the first bus. They cost 15 Euro/adult; 7.50 Euro/child 5-15 years old; accompanied children 0-4 years old ride free of charge.
